Some of the Council members thought it was time to explore the land around us.

Councilmen Mario, Salem and Henry wanted to go North. Councilmen Carlos, Eric and Ryan wanted to go West.

"Shaun organize your Guard for these explorations." Councilman Klaus asked.

"Yes Sir."

It took Shaun a week to have everything organized for the two different journeys.

"All right Paddy. Kylie. You and four squads will go with Councilman Carlos. Quinn, Cory and four squads will go with Councilman Mario."

Shaun included four Elite Guards from the other Councils.

We brought food and Jules as our cook. Benjamin went with Quinn and Cory's group. The three of them have always talked about going North.

We left on the Full Moon. We crossed the Outaouais River then followed it West keeping it to our right. We stopped every night. Jules was able to have a fire going within minutes of stopping.

He kept a metal pot for coals as soon as we started to pack up in the morning he would gather the coals. He kept a small bundle of wood with him to keep it going.

Our journey brought us to some large waterways. We crossed the Outaouais again when it reached the large river South. We moved West slowly. The forests were very thick and dense. We had to stay close to the riverbanks.

We came to a huge lake. We knew it was one. Paddy flew over it. When it was clear we could see some small islands.

We headed West following the shoreline. We were able to travel at least fifty miles a day. After a few days we came to another lake that was attached to the one we were following.

About a week into our exploration we ran out of lakes to follow that were heading West. It was dense forest due West.

The Councilmen conferred.

"We are going to run through the forest heading due West. We will stop only when it becomes dark." Councilman Carlos told us.

We nodded.

We adjusted our packs so that they would not snag on the branches.

Paddy instructed the other Elite Guards. One in front and one in back of the Councilmen.

"I was wondering how that was going to work." Dennis said.

Paddy was in front of Councilman Carlos. I followed them.

"Everyone ready?" Paddy called down the line to each side of him. Everyone was lined up in groups of three.

"Yes Sir." Came the answer.

"Let us move."

We worked our way into the trees. Once inside it was easier to run in between the trees.

Paddy checked the position of the sun then started to run. We were able to travel around forty miles through the trees that day. The next day we were back up to our fifty miles. We kept this up until we ran out of trees to a place where it looked flat. It looked like miles and miles of tall grass.

On this flat land we were able to run at our full speed. We accomplished a hundred miles.

Councilmen Carlos and Eric decided when we had reached a small valley that we would rest a day. They knew the shifters and wolves needed to sleep.

I sat beside Paddy while he slept and kept watch over Councilman Carlos who was sitting at the fire with some of the vampire Guards talking about days long ago.
