"should i tell him my identity?"
y/n asked in nervousness. no one was supposed to know of her presence since it would pose a threat. by informing the water pillar of her existence, it would mean more precautions.

kagaya stayed silent and y/n continued.

"kanzaburo already noticed me... there's no way that he's not suspicious of me... what do i do?"
y/n's mind was all over the place.

"calm down, my child."
those words indeed calmed y/n down. she took a breather and slowly, her heartrate went back to normal. kagaya had a small, gentle smile on his face.

kagaya was like a father figure for y/n since her biological father was absent in her life. kagaya also took care of y/n like she was his child, just like any other slayer in the corps. he would celebrate her birthdays and give her timely advices whenever she reaches an appropriate age.

y/n took one final deep breath and listened to kagaya.

"i think that it is time for the hashiras to know about you. the workload of the hashiras have doubled. gyomei won't be able to help you personally all the time."
kagaya stated. it was true, more slayers were passing away because of the demons. the hashiras were the one to sweep up the work and kill and avenge those slayers by killing those demons.

"however, y/n, it is your choice."
he reminded and y/n nodded her head.

"i'll... tell him. but how?"
y/n brought her hand up and lightly scratched her head in nervousness. she didn't really excel in human interactions.

"i can help with that, if you want."
the girl nodded her head enthusiastically. kagaya then opened his arms into a hugging stance. y/n went closer to her father figure and gently hugged him. it had been a long time they had hugged.

"you have grown so much, y/n."
kagaya patted her back. he had practically raised her when she was young. y/n was 10 when she met kagaya. she knew no one except for her strict mother who was always berating the girl for her slight wrong doings. kagaya was there to calm the tides and teach her values that her mother would never care to.

the hug dissolved an kagaya told kiriya and kanata to invite the water pillar in. the door slid open and the water pillar bowed down at his master.

"giyu, i would like to introduce you to a person."
kagaya said softly. giyu lifted his head and sat cross-legged. y/n, amane and kagaya sat in front of him. giyu nodded and waited for his master to continue. y/n was a fidgety mess. she was unsure on how the water pillar would react.

"this is l/n y/n, the only trainer of the kasugai crows."
y/n bowed in return and squeaked out.
"nice to meet you...!"

giyu immediately bowed down again. he didn't know that the girl held such an important position in the demon slayer corps. when the information processed in his head, it all made sense. her comforting kyojuro's crows and his own crow recognising her.

"i am tomioka giyu, the water pillar."
giyu introduced himself out of respect. the girl nodded a little too enthusiastically. the truth was, giyu didn't think of himself as a pillar. deep down, he didn't find that he deserved the position of a water pillar.

"i will leave you two to chat."
kagaya stated. amane helping him up and leading him out of the room, his children following him behind.

y/n internally freaked out. what should i say? i want to make new friends... but i don't think he's interested in that. the girl frantically thought to herself.

kagaya... please come back!
