sanemi's blood staining the ground as he hiked up the mountain with ease. the little cut didn't bother him at all since it was frequent for him. his whole entire chest was an artwork that he took pride in. a minor slash on his arm just to lure the demons out was child play.

another gruelling 30 minutes passed and finally,

they found something.

a makeshift mountain of kasugai crows, stacked against each other were pilled out. the sight itself was gruesome enough. blood oozed out of every wound from the kasugai crows. they were all dead. the decaying smell of the crows lingered in the air. it was a foul, disgusting smell that no human would enjoy.

sanemi grimaced at the smell and ignored the dead crows while giyu made a mental note on the number of dead crows. some of them were decapitated from their bodies, leaving their heads. saying a silent prayers for them, giyu knew that y/n would be devastated to see the scene that he was viewing.

it was odd.

for a makeshift mountain of dead crows to appear in the middle of nowhere.

was this the doing of the upper moon to stall time? to distract us? to attack us?
giyu asked himself, internalising the situation.

sanemi also knew that it was weird.

right then, they sensed a malicious demon. a blood thirsty one.

"ohohohoho~ what is this? you two seem strong, do you like my masterpiece? the crows have no nutritional value... it's been quite a while since i found a human, alive."
the blades left the sheath of the hashiras. angling themselves to face the said demon, sanemi had an irk mark on his head.

"HAR? WHY THE FUCK ARE NOT AN UPPER MOON?!"
the wind pillar angrily spat, sprinting towards the demon. the demon indeed didn't have the kanji of an upper moon.

the demon had an alienated look, he had four eyes, a normal pair on his face, one on his neck and another on his chest. it was disgusting in giyu's opinion. he watched as sanemi went up to attack it.

however, as the demon blinked, it teleported away, now right beside the water pillar who reacted fast and swung his sword.

the demon blinked again and was now on the tree, sitting, dangling his feet in glee. it was an annoying ability that the demon possessed. in the first place, demons don't even need to blink. the extra pair of hideous eyes were not helping too.

"water breathing, second form: water wheel."
giyu strike at the branch of the tree, the demon blinking and landing on the floor. the branch landing with a thud on the ground.

that was when sanemi and giyu noticed; he looks at where he will be teleported. the two got into action immediately. a small fry like him would not be able to do any numbers on the two strong pillar.

"wind breathing, first from: dust whirlwind gust."
sanemi dashed forward at a blinding speed. slashing in thin air continuously in a horizontal cyclone pattern to allow the demon to change its position and blink.

as much as sanemi hated it, he worked well with the water pillar who was observing and waiting for the right timing.

now..!

"water breathing, seventh form: drop ripple thrust."
a fast stab entered the eye of demon on the chest. its filthy blood splattered on giyu's haori. with a vertical slash, giyu brought the blade out of the demon's body and stepped three steps away.

"HOW DARE YOU INJURE MY BEAUTIFUL EYES! UNFORGIVABLE!"
the demon screeched out. the sound was piercing, loud, undeniably annoying.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP DEMON."
sanemi sprinted at the demon

"wind breathing, seventh form: gale, sudden gusts."
gale-forced winds shredded the demon's body as it tried to blink but was unable to regenerate fast enough from giyu's attack.

"wind breathing, sixth form: black wind mountain mist."
rotating his body, sanemi created a tornado of slashes to decapitate the eye demon.

"NO WAY! YOU TWO! HOW DARE YOU! WHY CAN'T I REGENERATE?!"
the demon yelled out, its head on the ground whilst the body already limp. giyu looked at the splatter of blood on his haori, sighing that he would have to get it cleaned later. sanemi was enraged that the upper moon was still hiding, no where in sight.

the demon residing inside the upper moon four was aching to come out for joy. it wanted to hear the screams and pleads of those demon slayer. as it was about to show itself, the strum of a biwa resonated in its ear.

the upper moon had left the mountain.
