"KAW! reminder! reminder! meeting with oyakata-sama in the evening!"
tsuki called out whilst munching on corn. y/n sighed at her playful crow.

"don't give reminders when eating tsuki."
tsuki squawked whilst eating her corn. giyu listened intently at the crow's words.

"do you have an escort?"
the water pillar asked in a calm tone. y/n shook her head.

"it's in the evening, there won't be any harm."
y/n reassured the water pillar who was sceptical.

"i'll escort you."
he stated in a firm tone, there was no room for argument. y/n slouched her shoulders in defeat. it was only an hour more to the evening. giyu decided that he would train instead of resting in the humble estate of y/n.

y/n was outside at the backyard training the crows when she realised that she had left her crow treats in her room. on the way of entering her room, she saw the water pillar opening that room.

giyu had initially wanted to go back to the guest room to retrieve his nichirin blade. however,  he couldn't recall which room it was since the house was huge. hence, he was entering the wrong room. his memory was good and yet it falter at the sight of the identical rooms.

opening the shoji doors, he saw a memorial altar with a calligraphy picture frame hung on the war.

the woman had striking similarities to y/n. the same colour h/c hair. the same eye shape, nose and cheek definition. it was scary how the two look alike.

the water pillar meant to close the door immediately and he did after digesting the fact that the woman on the picture hung was most probably her mother. embarrassment filled in him as he had accidentally opened the wrong room. he gulped and decided that he would just ask y/n where the guest room was.

to his dismay, y/n was right at the opposite of the hallway, looking at him open that room.

a sweat trickled down his forehead as he glanced at the girl with an unreadable expression.

"my apologies for opening the wrong door."
giyu bowed down in apologies at the girl who was shocked at him bowing down.

"i-its alright giyu! please raise your head."
y/n scurried to giyu and tried to ask him to stop bowing where he finally agreed.

"i'm guessing that you're looking for the guest room?"
y/n questioned the embarrassed pillar who nodded. y/n led him to his guest room which was in fact two rooms beside the room.

"the woman on the frame is my late mother."
y/n shared with giyu. although he didn't ask, she knew that internally, giyu was asking that question.

"my apologies if i had bring up any unpleasant memories."
the water pillar apologised once again.

"it's alright giyu, it had been quite a long time, i'm able to speak about it with a clear head."
y/n reassured the man again who nodded. y/n didn't want giyu to speculate anything in his mind and hence held a breath before making the decision.

"she departed due to suicide. though the reason was unclear."
y/n shared, sliding open the shoji doors. giyu halted in his actions thinking about the young y/n left all alone in the estate with no one to rely on except herself. he recalled her words; it had been quite a long time. how long did y/n mean?

"i... hope that she's at peace now."
silence engulfed them as a gentle smile was plastered on y/n's face.

"yeah... i hope so too."
y/n decided to stay in the room just a little longer by waiting for the water pillar to pick up his blade.

there was a pure silence between them. not the bad kind, just one that brought reassurance to the girl. it gave her the feeling that giyu would listen to her words if she decided to speak up.

it was a sense of peace and tranquillity.
