seeing mitsuri and iguro's deceased bodies was heart-wrenching sight.

y/n could feel her heart getting clawed out in agony. her tears never endingly streaming down her face as her friends stayed there unmoving. the kakushis couldn't break them apart, for the two had hugged each other tightly in their last breath.

they were supposed to have their happily every after.

mitsuri-chan was going to propose to iguro-kun two week later.

why must they be stripped away from their happiness?

this hurts. so, so, so much.

"mui-kun... where's muichiro?"
her words were shaky but the kakushis could hear y/n clearly.

stillness fell in the room. no one dared to reply y/n. the fact that y/n knew the high ranking slayers meant that she held an important and perhaps and even greater position in the corps that would be disbanded.

"please... answer me... where is mui-kun's body."
her words were choked out. grief had struck her hard and it was intolerable. y/n tried to rationalise her thoughts by telling herself that they were at better places now. however, the it was the lingering fact that they all still had bright futures, wonderful ones, that made y/n sorrowful. especially muichiro. her little brother figure.

he still have yet to experience so many different things.

"we couldn't find his body."
one of the kakushi finally replied y/n. his voice monotonous. y/n's brows furrowed amidst of all the tears.

"what do you mean? was he ingested by a demon?"
tsuki had not specify the details of muichiro's death. knowing the young boy, she had the hunch whereby he was still in the infinity fortress, maybe... just maybe alive.

"no miss... his body is no where to be found."
with a painful gulp, y/n nodded. her head had yet to accept the cold hard facts.

what was his last moments like?

was it a painless death?

no.... if his body isn't found.. that means he's still alive right?

they say that the first stage of grief was denial and y/n was in much denial. despite the fact that muichiro was reported dead, y/n still held that last glimmer of hope that he was still alive. that he was somehow breathing and surviving.

how unfortunate because in reality, the mist pillar's body was still in the fortress, forgotten and missing.

after viewing the deceased bodies of her friends, y/n finally enter the room of surviving demon slayers. specifically the ward for shinazugawa sanemi. her heart ached for the wind pillar who had lost his precious brother. she had visited the other slayers who had been recovered from the infinity fortress. one of them was shinazugawa genya, a boy who too lost his life too early.

"please rest well, shinazugawa-san, you have worked hard."
y/n softy said. the man's body was enveloped in bandages. fatal injuries were littered all over his body. his hand is bandaged up due to his loss of fingers. the once anger filled violet eyes were now shut.

as she moved rooms, her breath halted at the door. her hand hovering right above the doorknob, y/n shut her eyes whilst hastily rubbing her tears away with the other. exhaling deeply, y/n twisted the knob and pushed the door open.

giyu laid on the bed motionless. his muscular body wrapped in white bandages, some staining crimson. y/n bit her lips harshly. it was unbearable to see him in this state. her heart felt as though it twisting and turning all around.

with light steps, y/n took a seat beside giyu's bed. his hair was a mess, unruly in its nature. his pale face was rid of any scars, cerulean eyes shut. what made y/n hurt even more was to see that he had lost his arm in the battle.

softly, y/n intertwined her hands with his available one. rubbing soft circles with the pad of her thumb, y/n leaned down. lightly, she placed her head on his chest. rhythmic thumping was heard. relief flooded her head.

he's alive. breathing. safe and sound.

"hi giyu... it's me y/n. thank you for coming back... when you wake up, i'll make sure to cook your favourite meal. please take lots of rest. you deserve it."
a small lone tear made its way down y/n's cheeks. she was met with silence as her answer.

"g...giyu..."
her voice cracked.
"i am so glad that you're alive..."

"...hi y/n."

"giyu..!"

immediately, y/n engulfed the said man in a hug. a light one to make sure he doesn't get hurt. giyu tried to move his arm to return it but the pain was unbearable. he couldn't move an inch.

teardrops landed on the nape of his neck as y/n buried her head there. shutting his eyes, giyu took in the warmth of y/n.

the battle was a cold and excruciating one. when he had thought that peace had been finally restored and he had somehow miraculously survived the final battle. kamado tanjiro had been made into a demon.

with the last ounce of his strength, he fought off with the help of kanao, inosuke, zenitsu and nezuko. after their last drop of efforts, demon slayer corps victory then had a true victory.

he could finally see her, feel her and hear her. giyu felt his whole body ache and yet it was alright since y/n was here with him. her tenderness in her touch, the way she had hugged him with such care made giyu's heart flutter, just the slightest.

sister... sabito... thank you for looking over me.

"sorry did the hug hurt?..."
y/n finally pulled away, taking a full look at giyu who looked star struck.

"i'm fine."
his voice was raspy. fatigue was written all over his face and yet he woke up. in his dream, he could have sworn that his sister was telling him to wake up-- and he did.

seeing her red-rimmed eyes and tear stained cheeks made giyu's heart throb. he knew that the deaths of his comrades was a difficult and painful blow to y/n.

"i should get aoi-chan to come and check on you."
y/n was about to untangle their hands together and walk out of the room but giyu had stopped her. he was unwilling to allow y/n to leave him when he was conscious.

"stay."
with a small nod, y/n held onto giyu's hands dearly. the physical contact used to be something giyu would shun away from but at that moment, he was alright with it. everything seemed alright.

"you must be tired from the fight. please rest giyu."
y/n urged, brushing a strand of his dark hair away from his face. giyu stared into y/n's e/c eyes. he was unable to take his eyes off it. so much emotions were dwelling in her eyes and giyu wanted to take them all away. to take her pain and sorrow away.

"how are you feeling?"
giyu's voice sounded foreign to him. it was octaves deeper than his usual voice. his throat was parched. bringing a glass of water, y/n helped giyu support the glass of water since he couldn't find strength in his hand.

"i can't put my feelings... into words."
y/n replied honestly. there were too many emotions mixing in her.

"it'll be alright."
giyu replied, his voice clearing up.

peace has been finally restored.
