deep in the mountains of tall trees, the headquarters of the demon slayer corps houses a teenager, no older than 18, with a supernatural ability that has roots deeply embedded that no one truly knows how it came about. an ability that was only passed in her clan, to the females without a word or choice. it says the same for the girl who resided in the sturdy wooden mansion. alone and waiting. she was a shy individual and hadn't had much social interaction with people.

well it was expected; she did hold an important position in the demon slayer corps. a position that was simply irreplaceable, one that nobody could take over.

it's said to be a blessing to have wielded that ability. the girl agreed, but sometimes, she couldn't help but think of the case if she was born normal. without that ability, what would the life that she could lead? perhaps in the rural village where the lands were covered in a meadow. her mansion that she took for granted would be stripped and reduced to a hut, or maybe in the city where every corner had something to offer.

lady y/n! your back home!
a feline exclaimed, making his merry way to the said girl. y/n picked it up with ease and stoked its head, "hi shiro, i'm back."

y/n's special ability was her communication with animals.

"KAW KAW! LADY Y/N! LADY Y/N!"
her personal crow, tsuki called out, resting itself on y/n's shoulders. the rest of the crows started greeting their one and only, precious owner. they were endearing animals who were her constant companions.

"KAW! Y/N-SAMA! HELLO! KAW!"
the crows called out in excitement. the sound made y/n happy to know that her crows were all active.

"let's get to training alright?"
the crows got to their usual perches and tilted their head expectantly. they loved their owner dearly and would probably do anything to protect her, she was different from the other females of the l/n clan. less demanding, patient, smiley, nice. their previous owner, y/n's mother was a ruthless instructor; the new generation of crows had heard numerous stories from their parents and grandparents. horror stories were passed along by the previous generation of crows that served the demon slayers corps under her mother.

with y/n's mother being the scary trainer, one owuld expect that her offspirng would hold the same temperament. but instead, she had raised a sweet, patient and endearing daughter that had a pure heart, who also had no social cues.

"KAW! KAW! MESSAGE FROM OYAKATA-SAMA! MEETING AT THE UBUYASHIKI ESTATE! KAW!"

kagaya? the girl questioned herself. it was already evening, the sun was going to set. she wasn't exactly weary of the demons since her crows would notify her if there were demons around. moreover, she was residing in the demon slayer corps where demons could not penetrate due to the wisteria flowers, but it felt odd that ubuyashiki called y/n at such a late time.

the crow flew away after getting ample head pats from the girl to get on with going with their tasks. this left the other crows absolutely jealous as they try and fight for y/n's attention, they were in fact, still baby crows in training. just then, a gentle giant knocked on her estate's door.

"lady y/n. this is gyomei. i am here to escort you to the ubuyashiki estate on oyakata-sama's orders."
the stone hashira voice was gentle but loud, a prayer then followed and awaited for the young girl to open the doors.

"gyomei!"
her eyes lit up at the hashira. she went to the door, her feet padding the wooden flooring. her smile ever larger as she opened the door and hugged him. the man smiled and then cried, chanting prayers to protect the precious girl.

"it is nice to see you, full of energy lady y/n."
gyomei commented, walking her through the dense forest to ubuyashiki's estate. tsuki flew above to keep a look out.

"how are your missions?"
y/n questioned. gyomei was the only hashira that she knew personally. it was a safety precaution. not many people could know of her existence or the presence of her clan. her family had no fighting abilities like any other demon slayer; their powers lay in their ability to communicate with animals, which renders them defenceless even if the whole corps protected them.

her job was to train the crows for the betterment and future of the demon slayer corps. the only people who knew her were kagaya, amane, their children and lastly, himejima gyomei, the stone pillar who had basically watched her grow up.

"nothing too much that i can't handle."
gyomei replied, with a small smile at her concern for him.

"that's good to hear."
y/n could hear tsuki's wings flapping. she was quite the enthusiastic flier. each crow has its own personality and traits, and y/n truly appreciated the diversity of the crows she could train. tsuki was more towards the non-sociable type of crows and has great potential in flight. she wasn't from a family of trained kasugai crows; in fact, she was an injured stray that didn't want to leave y/ns side when she treated her.

"how is shiro?"
gyomei asked, referring to the small cat that resided in her house. the little cat was also an odd stray, that wandered into the forest, malnourished and weak. tsuki took notice of it and informed y/n as soon as she could.

the feline also liked y/n since she could communicate with him, and she would always spoil him with lots of food which he absolutely loves.

"he's getting bigger every single day."
y/n replied sweetly. the cat would only lounge in her estate, not moving, if anything, he was a major lazy cat.

"namu amida butsu..."
gyomei chanted a prayer for the fur ball. the two chatted for a short while as they ascended the mountain, reaching the ubuyashiki's estate in no time.

kiriya and kanata were waiting at the entrance to escort y/n to meet their father. wisteria adorned the background, the purplish light covering the estate whole. the two kids bowed as gyomei and y/n bid their goodbyes. once gyomei was away, y/n turned her attention at the two kids of the quadruplets. once a while, she would get them mixed up and thye wouldn't have the heart to correct her and play along.

"kiriya-chan! kanata-chan!"
