the girl squatted down and hugged the two kids, embracing them in a warm hug. the two children were stiff but gradually melted at y/n's comfort. their tiny arms wrapping around her too.

"lady y/n... it is very nice to see you in good health."
kiriya stated with a smile

"lady y/n... how was your day?"
kanata asked, now returning the hug.

the two were absolutely precious in y/n's eyes. y/n adored them a lot and would always spoil them if she gets the chance and since the two hasn't corrected her on their names, she internally celebrated.

"it's really good! what about you two? have you been busy?"
y/n asked, releasing them from her hold and standing up. they were in the midst of getting to the room where kagaya and amane were in.

"we have been good too. we aren't busy at all."
the two replied simultaneously. it surprised the girl when the kids replied at the same time, with the same words and the same tone. y/n nodded along and saw the other two of the quadruplets playing at the stone courtyard. their little heads flickered over to y/n and their siblings, and y/n waved at them with a small smile.

"we've reached."
kiriya and kanata slid open the door for y/n, revealing kagaya sitting in front of a low table and amane beside him, pouring a cup of tea. at the sound of the doors sliding open, kagaya turned his head towards it, the ever-gentle smile plastered on his face

"hello y/n, please take a seat."
kagaya lifted his hand and pointed it towards the empty seat adjacent to him. y/n did as he told, bowing down before taking a seat.

"it's great to see you kagaya, amane."
y/n returned the smile, taking in the new calm atmosphere. however, something was a little jarring. kagaya's illness had spread, causing him to be blind in both eyes now.

"one of the hashira has fallen. the flame hashira."
kagaya said in a gentle and delicate tone.

"rengoku... kyojuro, the flame hashira."
y/n trailed off. why didn't kyojuro's crow, kaname inform me? she thought to herself.

"yes. he was defeated by the upper moon three right after defeating a lower moon."
kagaya informed. y/n's eyebrows raised. why did muzan order an upper moon?

"i'm afraid that things are getting more heated. the war between slayers and demons will be imminent."
y/n digested the information. if that was true then... what would happen to her? she is just a mere trainer for the crows who possess no swordsmanship abilities. she had remembered hearing gyomei praising the flaming spirit in the demon corps, how he had succeeded his father, with young talent and blaze.

"however, that is not the point of the discussion."
kagaya interrupted her train of thought. y/n tilted her head slightly.

"kyojuro's crow, kaname, won't leave the grave of kyojuro. we can't tell what it plans are for the future but i'm afraid that the crow had yet to eat or drink."
y/n hitched a breath at kagaya's words. she knew in the back of her mind every single personality traits of her crows.

y/n did personally train all of the crows in the demon slayer corps. kaname had a strong, unwavering spirit, and she assigned her to kyojuro, who, too, had a blazing spirit. they were a great pair. kaname is loyal to its handler, always listening, always loud. that's something the crow had been instilled with... loyalty and high spirits.

"i can speak to kaname."
y/n voiced out. she knew how the passing of a handler can cause great grief to crows. even birds have a heart. those who end up alone would go back to the l/n estate until the next round of selection came.

"thank you, my child."
