"i'm... sorry i caused you trouble."
y/n apologised all of the sudden. that surprised the water pillar who then bowed down again.

"please do not apologise lady l/n. you did nothing worth apologising."
giyu reassured the girl who was sweating buckets.

"you don't have to be so formal... it's a little weird and we're of the same age anyways."
y/n would be turning 19 in a few months time but without her birthday passing, she was technically still 18. she had remembered the information of the hashiras, past and present. that included the water pillar.

"it would be rude of me to address you casually, lady l/n."
giyu replied stoically. y/n was a little flustered at his words. him and gyomei are the same. she sighed internally. y/n took a small glance at kaname who was sleeping and kanzaburo looking over the tired crow.

"is kanzaburo doing his job well?"
y/n asked, knowing that the crow was old. giyu looked at his crow and let out a light sigh.

"he's forgetful at times, sometimes forgetting to send me messages."
giyu simply stated and observed the girl's features. it was no surprise that y/n was drop-dead gorgeous. her looks were extravagant, it was natural. the light bouncing off her skin, making her shine even bright. she was breath taking in giyu's opinion but he would never admit that out loud.

"is that so... my apologies. i tell him that he should retire and enjoy his crow life. but he forgets that he had already retired..."
y/n trailed off and sighed. should she replace kanzaburo since it was causing inconvenience with giyu's work.

"i am able to replace him if you want."
y/n suggested, keeping her voice low so the crow wouldn't hear.

"it's alright lady l/n. i don't mind his forgetfulness."
the truth was, giyu had already formed a bond with the forgetful kanzaburo. as much as he hated to admit it, he enjoyed kanzaburo as his crow.

y/n smiled at giyu's reply and the conversation carried on naturally. it was a destress-er for giyu. to speak with someone else that wouldn't make harsh remarks like shinobu or being bullied by shinazugawa. it was like she was a breath of fresh air for the water pillar.

he didn't expect himself to speak so much.

"why do you keep your presence hidden?"
giyu asked out of pure curiosity. he had suspicions that the other pillars didn't know of her presence too. sure she held an important role, doesn't that mean that she should be protected by the hashiras like how they would protect kagaya.

"i am the last descendant of the l/n family. i have the powers to communicate with animal. no one is supposed to know of my family. i don't know the reason for that but... it has been like that since the old days."
y/n explained. giyu nodded in understanding.

"the only people that knows of me is the ubuyashiki family and gyomei."
y/n shared with the man who listened to the words and processed them. the stone pillar? he thought to himself.

"gyomei escorts me whenever i go to the ubuyashiki estate for precautions."
himejima-san had to go for a mission just a while ago. does that mean that she's going to her estate alone in the dark? giyu thought to himself.

"is there anyone escorting you to your estate?"
the water pillar questioned.

"i doubt gyomei is free right now. i'll be going home alone."
y/n replied in pure ignorance. she didn't understand why the water pillar had asked her.

"i'll escort you."
giyu stated blankly. it was his job as the hashira to protect humans from demons. he wanted to make sure that the h/c haired girl would reach her estate safely, without any scratches.

y/n was surprise at his words and tried to persuade him that she didn't need him to go to the extra mile. giyu on the other hand was unfazed by it and was insistent on escorting her back.

it was the right thing to do anyways.
