"giyu, do you have any favourite food?"
y/n asked out of mere curiosity.

"simmered salmon... and daikon."

y/n didn't expect him to reply but he did. she then remembered that she has those exact ingredients in her house. 

"kaw! tomorrow, tomorrow! investigate a village in southeast tomorrow!" 
kanzaburo squawked, perching itself on giyu's shoulder. giyu nodded in reply and allowed the bird to stay on his shoulders. 

"lady y/n! how you are? how are you? kaw!" 

"hello kanzaburo, i'm doing great." 
she replied with a small smile, grateful that the bird is doing fine. 

slowly and surely, the two had reached the l/n estate and y/n looked at the time. it was already late. being the kind hearted soul she is, she invited the water pillar in. 

"would you like to stay for the night? it is quite dark out already. i have an extra room." 
y/n offered. she felt bad since he could have already been in his estate but she wasn't due to him escorting her. 

giyu was a man of not many words and hence, he nodded which gave the girl an answer. 

"i'll get you an extra set of clothing." 
y/n stated, about to go out of the living room. 

"it's alright. i prefer staying in my uniform."
giyu stopped the girl. she then showed him the room that he would be sleeping and then her room if he needed anything. 

most of the crows were asleep now. those who were awake wanted to greet their owner but didn't since they remembered y/n's words on having a guest. 

to be on their best behaviour. 

kaname was still asleep in the bird bed. he hadn't awoken from his slumber since yesterday. y/n prepared the crow's breakfast for tomorrow morning in the kitchen whilst giyu followed her behind. she was currently chopping up some carrots into slices and then placing them in a container. 

giyu was questioning himself as to why the girl was preparing such a large amount of food. he couldn't comprehend it and thought that y/n was going to eat them all. 

"i'm preparing breakfast for the crows, they like carrots a lot since it helps with their eyesight." 
y/n shared, chopping up the cucumbers next. 

it finally made sense now. giyu thought. no wonder there's so much food. i... want to help her out. but what do i say?

with a conflicted expression, y/n took notice of that and decided to question,
"is there something wrong, giyu?"

"i can help."
he said bluntly. y/n's eyes widened at his offer. she looked for another knife by opening the drawers. true enough, the knife was there and y/n washed it before handing it to giyu. 

"i usually cut them up in slices."
y/n stated, lending the water pillar a cutting board and a cucumber. giyu nodded and skilfully, he started slicing up the cucumbers. 

y/n was astonished at the speed of giyu, cutting those vegetables. well his job does involves sword play... she thought to herself, sweat dropping a little. the job would have taken 20 minutes for the girl to finish but now it took less than 10. 

"thank you for your help." 
y/n thanked the boy with a bow. the poor water pillar wanted the girl to get up since it wasn't much of a deal. it was the least he could do since he's staying for the night. 

"lady l/n... i'm hungry." 
y/n heard a crow's voice. 

kaname?... 
y/n thought to herself. with a flutter of his wings, kaname perched himself on the top of y/n shoulders. 

"hi dear, how's your sleep?"
she asks, handing him one of the carrot slices. kaname ate it. it's good to know that he has an appetite. giyu digested the interaction between y/n and kyojuro's crow. she was extremely gentle with the crows. soft-spoken yet she held so much power on them.

"i dreamt of rengoku-sama."
kaname replied, moving closer to y/n's neck. 

"i'm sure that rengoku-san is at peace now." 
y/n whispered to kaname. she then walked over to one of the feeders, placing kaname on the feeder for him to get food. 

"kaname, you can come into my room if you need company alright?"
reassuring the crow, y/n patted his head and turned to giyu.

"i'm heading to my room now. have a pleasant night giyu."
y/n smiled and headed to her room's direction. 

"you too... lady y/n."
