"hello y/n."
kagaya greeted the said girl who took a seat in front of him. amane was outside of the room, helping out the kids in some sort of activity. 

"hello kagaya, how are you doing?"
y/n took in the appearance of her father figure. despite their close age gap, the wisdom and maturity kagaya held was a significant difference of y/n's. 

"it seems that the curse is catching up to me. it won't be long until i'm bedridden." 
the master said gently to the girl. the news hit her like a full-speed train. she was baffled and shocked. kagaya hasn't even reach 30 years old... why? why is fate so cruel?

unbeknownst to y/n, a tear slipped past her eyes. she couldn't bear to see kagaya on his death bed. she didn't want him to go. she wanted him to stay. 

"it's alright, my dear child, come closer." 
kagaya reached his hands out for y/n. lightly, y/n took it and kagaya pulled in for a hug. softly sobbing now, y/n imagined her life without kagaya. 

another reason that kagaya wanted to introduce y/n to the pillars was due to his weakness. he knew that his time was coming to an end. he knew that when he passes, y/n would be alone. the man didn't want his child to be alone in this world. hence he brought in the idea of introducing his hashiras. 

"shhh... it's alright y/n, i'm not going so soon." 
kagaya soothing voice calmed y/n down. 

how soon did kagaya mean? 1 week? 1 month? 1 year? y/n didn't know but she held onto that flickering flame of hope. 

patting and caressing her hair, kagaya took the time to appreciated y/n's presence. although she wasn't related by blood with her, he truly thought of y/n as his child. he couldn't stand to see her cry, especially when the reason was him. 

getting herself back together, y/n untangled herself from the hug and took a breath. kagaya took notice of that and decided to get into business. 

"the letter that you sent, is it possible for you to elaborate on it."
with a nod, y/n started explaining. 

"yin, one of the 4 crows i had send to the mountain near asakusa seems to be the only survivor.  i sent 3 crows for surveillance on the mountain two weeks ago. they were supposed to come back to send reports a week ago, but they didn't. i sent 4 more to check on them. only yin came back."

"the upper moon 4 seems to possess different ability."
kagaya stated, taking in the information. 

"i asked yin on it and from what i had gathered, one of them carry flight ability and another has wind manipulation. yin says that the demons worked together." 

"i requested a handful of hinoto ranked slayers to climb the mountain for patrol. however, none of them returned. i then sent a few kinoto ranked slayers to investigate. but none of them had came back. its most likely related."
kagaya shared with y/n. their bodies are not retrieved. y/n thought to herself. 

"i am planning to ask the hashira to investigate." 
kagaya stated. 

"which hashira do you have in mind?"
y/n questioned. an upper moon has the strength of 3 hashiras. but the corps didn't have the man power to do that. especially since the passing of the valued flame pillar 

uzui and gyomei are on a mission. giyu, obanai, mitsuri, muichiro are out patrolling their respective areas. the closest to the ubayashiki estate was obanai since the area he patrolled was nearer than the rest. sanemi had just left the estate. 

"the closest pillar we can contact is sanemi and obanai. however, the asakusa is where giyu patrols. i am thinking to send giyu and sanemi to a joint mission. although they do not really get along..."
kagaya trailed off, stating the options. 

"obanai and sanemi get along with each other well. do you think it's a better fit?"

y/n shook her head and thought realistically. 

"i think its better to send giyu and shinazugawa-san instead. it's easier to convey the information to shinazugawa-san and giyu can collect more information in asakusa. by the time shinazugawa-san reaches asakusa, it would be night fall."
kagaya nodded in approval and asked his crow to deliver a message to sanemi who was already training in his estate. 

soon after, the wind pillar reached the ubayashiki estate.
