amidst of the final selection for the crows, on the last day, y/n had gotten a message from the ubuyashiki mansion. dread overwhelmed y/n as she recalled kagaya's words when they had previously met. the meeting could only mean one thing.

goodbye.

y/n approached the ubuyashiki estate hesitantly. nervousness etched in every part of her body as she saw all five of the quintuplets at the front door, awaiting for her presence.

"welcome, lady y/n."
the five bowed simultaneously. y/n bowed back with a false smile. she knew that the situation was dire and made haste to visit the head of the estate.

"hi kagaya... i'm here."
the man was bedridden. his body became immobile, the curse spreading his whole face. bandages were wrapped on his face. y/n kneeled down beside kagaya. she chanted in her head 'don't cry. don't cry. don't cry.' like a whole mantra.

yet it wasn't effective as tears had already made their way down.

"hi y/n. how are you?"
kagaya replied in a sickly voice. soft yet serene. the tone of his voice never wavering despite the curse.

"i've been bonding with the hashiras, thanks to you."
y/n reached for kagaya's hand. interlacing it to hers, the curse had already reached his fingertips, painting them purple. but y/n didn't care. she knew why kagaya had asked her to be present and yet she didn't want to believe it.

she hated goodbyes.

"that's good to hear. it seems that the kids are training very hard."
kagaya forced a smile. tears streamed down y/n's face uncontrollably.

"yeah they are..."
y/n replied, supressing a hiccup.

"have you been eating and sleeping well?"
kagaya weakly asked, while y/n nodded her head and reply with a 'yes'.

"how are you and giyu doing?"
kagaya asked with a slight tease in his voice. y/n choked whilst holding back a sob. she hadn't expect kagaya to joke around at such a solemn and critical time.

"great.. we've gotten really close."
y/n smiled in all the tears that she had spilt.

"could you reach down, y/n?"
y/n did as he said leaned downwards. softly kagaya placed the palm of his hand on her head, patting it gently.

"you've grown into a remarkable lady, y/n."
kagaya said with a slight strain in his voice. y/n whimpered, tears cascading down like a waterfall. she knew where the conversation was heading.

"and i wish nothing but happiness."
he tried to keep his voice strong but there was a waver in it. y/n rested her head on kagaya's chests. careful to not apply any pressure but enough to hear his hear beating lightly.

"continue smiling, y/n. i love you."
kagaya felt his energy depleting. it had took him all of his might to be able to muster those lines of words without falling apart. he was glad that he was able to achieve that.

"i love you too, kagaya."
y/n could still hear his heart thumping. tears soaked into his attire and the soft sounds of y/n's cries echoed in the lone room. his chest rose up and down in a composed manner.

amane then escorted y/n out while kagaya rested. the two conversed with one another. y/n asking about how amane was coping and amane replying to the best of her ability. she then told y/n that two of the quintuplets were willing to give their lives as they didn't want to live on without their parents. y/n's heart broke upon hearing the piece of news.

the time spent in the ubuyashiki estate was a depressing one and yet so much lovely memories were made. there were no bodyguards or trained professionals in the ubuyashiki estate. it was just them and y/n visiting occasionally to spend her time. those memories were anchored in y/n's brain and she would never trade it for the world.

"goodbye y/n. please stay safe."
amane bowed down. y/n bowed to, saying her goodbyes to amane and the children. giving them a final hug, y/n left the ubuyashiki estate with a heavy heart.

THE NEXT DAY, NIGHTFALL.
