y/n couldn't sleep in the entire night. she was restless. utterly restless. her mind went to places, the different 'what ifs' scenarios ran through her head relentlessly. she was scared about the future. she was scared for the future-- what it was about to bring and how she would adapt to it.

it was impossible for her to stop those incessant thoughts.

the night was cold. colder than any other nights in the l/n estate. it was as if an impending dread that was casted in the gruelling nightfall. it was terrifying for y/n. each breath was shaky. she couldn't bear to think about what was happening outside. she prayed for her friends, for the safety of the corps and for all of them to reach home safe.

a fight for humanity. a battle between two apex predators whereby only one can shine victorious. a deafening silence engulfed the l/n estate. all animals in the vicinity was quiet. stillness covered the mountain.

shiro was the only being aside from y/n in the l/n estate. odd because it used to be crows flocking all around, greeting and chatting with y/n.

please come back safe.

sun finally rose and y/n waited patiently at the front door. the sunlight kissing her supple skin, a small gust of wind made y/n close her eyes. she engaged her sense to detect any of her crows within the vicinity.

they should be back now... it's sunrise... where are they?

worry encased y/n as she thought about the myriad of possibilities. is everyone safe? mitsuri? muichiro? sanemi? kocho? gyomei? giyu? are they safe?...

MAMAAAAAA!!

TSUKI! immediately, y/n shot up and heaved a big sigh of relief. her crow was safe and sound.

she was alive.

soaring through the morning sky, tsuki was utterly exhausted but she knew that she had to fly back to y/n. she wanted to update her on everything.

on all the lives that were lost.

"tsuki?"
y/n called out, placing her hand out for her little crow to land on.

"MAMA! I'M BACK! I'M BACK!"
tsuki rolled her back and stretched her wings on y/n's hand. feeling the warmth radiating off y/n's hand, tsuki knew that she was secure.

"hi dear, thank you for working so hard."
y/n patted her head, slight worry left y/n as her companion came back in one piece. there were still lingering thoughts on the aftermath of the battle.

"mama.. a lot of things happened..."
the crow had beads of tears in her eyes as she recalled the events that unfolded in the infinity castle.

"slowly tsuki, you had a long night."
y/n wondered where her other crows were. did tsuki rush straight here?

"tokito-sama... kocho-sama... kanroji and iguro-sama... himejima-sama.. they're all... mama..."
a sniffle left her throat as she tried to voice out the deaths of the hashiras.

they're all?... no... don't tell me... why? why is fate so cruel?

unbeknownst to y/n, tears welled up in her eyes. continuous ones, streaming down her cheeks and thudding onto the ground.

"they're no longer here mama."
the words left tsuki listlessly.

impossible. i am suppose to see mitsuri-chan and iguro-kun walking down the aisle together. we made plans to go to asakusa to eat lots of sakura mochis. we made lots of plans together... there's no way she'll leave... right?
