mitsuri

y/n smiled at the letter she received from the love pillar. previous worries and woes washed away when she read the adorable letter written by mitsuri. the small drawings made y/n's lips curved up. right after tsuki had delivered out the letters, she had received a letter from giyu by kanzaburo. his reply was extremely fast and upon reading it, y/n was startled.

dear y/n,

thank you for the invitation. i am free to attend the autumn festival. on the topic of simmered salmon and daikon... i would like to visit tomorrow noon if that is alright? hopefully it doesn't trouble your activities. please stay safe and sleep well. see you soon.

y/n could feel her heart beating rapidly against her chest. the action resonating in her body. heat rose to her cheeks. it was mere just a letter and yet it had such an intense effect on the crow trainer. waves of emotions surged in her, ranging from excitement to nervousness.

she had wrote her reply almost immediately, smiling like a fool whilst dipping her calligraphy brush into the black ink. y/n wrote a short reply to accepting his request and wishing him safety and health.

tsuki was entertained by her flustered master that had a smile decorating her face, serene that she had accepted his request.

he would get to eat his favourite dish and spend time with y/n. a person that he had gotten comfortable to talking to and honestly wouldn't mind spending the whole of his time with.

the replies came in by the respective crows. as shinazugawa had said, he would not be able to attend the festival. the insect pillar too could not attend as she needed to tend to the injuries at the butterfly estate. gyomei had a mission faraway so he was unable to attend the festival as much as he wished it. it was the first ever festival y/n would get to attend so he wanted to be there. unfortunately, because of his mission, gyomei found difficulty in it.

muichiro had returned a letter saying that he would like to attend to which made y/n's heart flutter. she knew that the teenage boy had regained his memory and was more expressive now with his words and actions. y/n couldn't wait to interact with him during the festival.

THE NEXT DAY.

y/n woke up at the crack of dawn. she first settled her crows with their food and gave them flight instructions as training. shiro tagged along, whining for food. finally y/n gave in and fed the white cat who ate with glee. the crow trainer then started marinating the salmon and preparing it. shortly after she did the laundry and some housekeeping chores.

the morning passed quite fast due to the numerous things of things y/n had accomplished. the laundry were now hung, drifting in the wind and moving in the wind's direction.

"LADY Y/NNNNNNNNN."

"LADY Y/N!!!!!"

"LADY L/NNNN!!!!!"

her crows had energetically flew to her, perching themselves on their respective places whilst shouting to the loudest of their ability to report to their master on the new comer. y/n got the message and calmed her hyper crows down. opening the door, she was met with a familiar sight.

his azure eyes held more spark in them, skin full of colour with his dark hair messy and tugged into a singular low ponytail.

"hi giyu."
y/n greeted the water pillar, an unknowing smile crept onto her face. shiro looked afar to see the newcomer before waltzing away to y/n's futon since it was warm.

"thank you for having me, y/n."
the way he said her name made the girl's heart practically stop. she could play it like an old record and not get bored of it.

"it's a pleasure. come in, the food is almost ready."
giyu nodded, placing this nichirin blade down at the doorstep before bowing down as a sign of respect. y/n went to the kitchen to plate the food, pouring the soup in a bowl. giyu wanted intently, thinking of helping y/n since it was the least he could do.

"do you need any help?"
the water pillar asked, y/n blinked and blinked again before nodding just the slightest. giyu moved closer to her to hear his instructions. the task wasn't anything major as most of the things had already been done.

the two sat on the table. it was comforting to y/n. it had always been her and her alone on the table ever since her mother left the world. having someone around with their presence made y/n's heart warm.

no words were conversed between the two of them. however, a small smile adorned giyu's face. he couldn't hold it back at all. not when his favourite food and person that he had grown to like was sitting in the same room as him.

"thank you y/n. the food is really nice."
giyu softly said, drinking the last drop of the soup. his plate was clean, rid of any food.

"i'm glad that you enjoy it. thank you for being here, it gets lonely here at times so i'm happy that you're here to share a meal."
y/n replied, cleaning the table. the smile on her face made giyu rethink his life choices of coming here. he swore he felt the world stop moving single time he saw her sweet smile. the water pillar didn't know how it was possible but it just happened.

heat rose to the high ends of giyu's cheeks. almost instantaneously, giyu turned away to stop the warmth from spreading to his face. y/n had a whole question mark behind her as the man avoided eye contact with her. she pushed it away and thought nothing of it.

"if you ever feel lonely... just write a letter and i'll come."
despite his busy schedule, giyu would find time for her. he had told himself that.

this time, it was y/n who turned away, her back completely turned against the water pillar. his words ricocheted in her head. a light blush dusting her face. the tips of her ears painted a rosy red.

"if... you say so."

with that, y/n scurried to the kitchen to place the empty dishes, leaving the flustered water pillar at the dining table.

why is my heart beating so fast?.... i need to ask mitsuri about this..
