Chapter Twelve "Doc Ock Rises Arc"

It's Monday as Y/n goes to walk out of his history class and head to lunch when his teacher Ms.Morales calls his name gaining his attention as he walks over to her desk.

Y/n:Yes Ms.Morales?

Ms.Morales:Yes Y/n I'd like to have a talk with you about something.

Y/n:Is it about my grades?

Ms.Morales:No it's not about your grades they've actually improved but I wanna talk about you specifically.

Y/n:Is there something wrong?

Ms.Morales:Y/n you're grades have improved but I've noticed your mental health hasn't been in the best of shape, you almost never smile anymore like you use to.

Y/n:I've just got things going on Ms.Morales.

Ms.Morales:Right you were there for the incident right?

Y/n:Yeah.

Ms.Morales:I know you were close to Mr.Stacy, his death must still hurt you.

Y/n:It's just *sighs* forget it.

Ms.Morales:No please talk with me, I know wanna know what's bothering my favorite student.

Y/n:It's my fault he's dead, it's my fault Gwen doesn't have a father anymore.

Ms.Morales:Oh Y/n you shouldn't blame yourself for something like that, You were in a terrible situation I don't think there was anything you could've done.

Y/n:There was, if I had just tried harder than maybe I could've saved him.

Ms.Morales:Y/n don't dwell on ifs and the past, think about now and what can you do to help and better others and yourself now.

Y/n looks down contemplating on what Ms.Morales said before looking up and nodding to her.

Y/n:I'll think on that, thank you for the talk Ms.Morales.

Ms.Morales:Anytime Y/n now go and enjoy your lunch.

Y/n leaves the classroom and heads down the hall entering the cafeteria as he sees where his friends are sitting and he goes to join them.

Y/n:Hey guys what are you talking about?

Petra:Hey Y/n we're talking about Spider-Man's disappearance.

Y/n:Oh, well what do you guys think about it?

Harry:It's weird I mean dudes been around for five years and then he just disappears without a trace leaving his suit with the Bugle.

Y/n:Maybe he's on vacation?

Y/n notices Gwen and MJ give him a look that he can't identify.

Petra:He doesn't seem like the type to do that.

MJ:He gave so many people hope, he inspired people to be better and that everything can get better and now he's gone.

Y/n looks down as he thinks about they've said especially about what MJ and Gwen have told him.

It's the end of the school day as Y/n enters his work place putting on his lab coat and when he goes in he sees Otto strapped in to the neural interface testing the prosthetic. Y/n walks closer with a look of amazement as Otto looks to Y/n.

Otto:Sorry for starting without you but I wanted everything to work fine before the grant committee arrives.

Y/n:It's fine sorry I didn't get here faster traffic was a mess.

Otto continues to test the prosthetic but then sparks begin to appear out of the machine as Y/n runs to the computer to see what's wrong.

Y/n:Damnit Otto we got a problem.

Otto:I think I can handle it.

Otto stays strapped to the interface believing that it's only a spike and it'll soon stabilize but that's not the case as more sparks fly out straight from the interface causing Otto pain as Y/n quickly runs to a red button pressing it as it puts out the sparks and any fire hazards but the smell is noticable and the smoke is visible.

Y/n:Otto! You okay?

Otto:Yes thank you for the help, it's a slight set back but we're close I can feel it.

The entrance to the lab opens gaining the both of their attention as the grant committee walk in and immediately notice what's happened.

Committee Director:Is anyone hurt?

Otto:No thankfully.

Y/n:It was all my fau-

Otto:The energy levels exceeded our expectations, from a certain view that is a positive development.

Committee Director:It doesn't smell very positive.

Otto:I assure you in the next phase-

Committee Director:Let's not get ahead of ourselves, is there somewhere else we can discuss this.

Otto looks to Y/n and sighs.

Otto:Maybe you should take the rest of the day off Y/n.

Y/n:But-

Otto:We'll talk later.

Otto and the committee leave heading into his office as Y/n looks to them while they're in his office, Y/n deciding to not leave instead sees what's the problem with the prosthetic and after checking he finds the problem fixing it before leaving but before he leaves he hears one thing Otto discusses with the committee.

Committee Director:Your Intern Y/n, he was late again wasn't he, how dependable is he?

Otto:Leave Y/n out of this, I assure he's the best Intern I could have chosen and I don't regret one bit.

Y/n:Otto really does believe in me.

Y/n smiles cause of Otto's encouraging words before leaving the lab and heading to Eddie's Pizza to meet up with his friends.
