EDITED

When I woke up at 10:30, I already had a text from Megan and Scarlett saying they were on the train, and they would miss me but we'll go another time.

The promise of another time did nothing to make me feel better. I pulled myself out of bed and pulled on the first hoodie I found on the floor before stumbling downstairs to make myself a coffee. Surprisingly Charlie was already up. "Haylie, you were supposed to get up an hour ago."

I frowned at my little sister before reaching for the cupboard. "Why?"

"Because mum and dad said you have to keep me entertained all day and I've been awake for an hour so I haven't been entertained all day."

I couldn't help my laugh as I started to make my homemade iced coffee. "Okay. I like your logic, what do you want to do today?"

The last few months I started dating my teacher who was an illegal supercar racer. Who then turned out to be a werewolf. I went to parties with people I didn't know and lied to my friends and family about where I was and with who. I even lied to myself countless times about the truth.

I knew Daniel was hiding things from the start. I forgave his lies again and again and I let him break me apart with the promise that he would put me back together. But he never really put me back whole again.

And now, as I baked cookies with one direction playing in the background with my little sister, I really felt like I was a normal teenager again. I felt whole. It was just strange then when I was thinking of how happy I felt, Zach's face flashed before me.

"I know we're a little early." My dad announced as he walked into the house. Alex, Charlie and I didn't bother moving from the sofa but I checked my phone and saw it was only 8.

They walked into the living room, looking exhausted but happy and I realised I probably had been a little selfish the last few months by not letting them have more moments like this. Now that I thought about it, I don't think I had helped one bit around the house. "I know the terrible blondes are in London, but you can still head out if there's somewhere else you could be?" My mum said with a smile that told me she meant it.

I shrugged. The only people I wanted to hang out with were in London, but I pulled my phone out anyway and checked my other group chats to see if anyone was around. A few people had gone to the pub, but I was surprised that I had a new email notification.

Dear Miss Hayls Smith.

You are hereby invited to the most iconic winter wonderland event outside of London. It is a lot smaller, a lot warmer and there is definitely no rides or ice skating. But it would be a treat hard to miss.

The only catch is you're going to have to tell me when you're free from your babysitting duties so I can come get you.

Yours sincerely

Daddy Zach (Sorry Father Zach) (As in Christmas get it).

I stared at the email for a while, realising it came in a few hours ago and then I let myself laugh before looking up to my parents who still waited for an answer. "Sorry. Um," I was still slightly lost for words. "I think I will go out actually." I decided and began to head for the stairs. "Don't wait up."

I pressed dial as I started to pull off my sweaty pjs and Zach answered on the second ring. "I just got the weirdest email." I started, unable to contain my smile.

"That's so weird, I just got an email too. From someone named Daddy Zach, wanting me to come and get you? Is now good?"

I laughed and took a look at myself in the mirror. "Can you give me like half an hour?"
