EDITED

It wasn't until I got home that I finally felt like I could breathe again. All day, between every lesson and even the walk home I was terrified that Adam was just going to show up again, and I knew I had finally said all the things I wanted to say. I wanted that to be how he remembers me for the rest of his life. The girl that told him no.

I dumped my bag at the door and headed into the kitchen to find Alex at the table grinning at her phone as her fingers moved on the screen. "What's so funny?" I asked and flipped the kettle on.

Alex basically jumped out her skin by my voice, her phone cradling to her chest. I instantly widened my eyes and leant on the kitchen counter. "Oh my god, it's a boy." I stated but she quickly shook her head. "It so is." I laughed. "Come on, who is it?"

She shook hr head harder and stood up. "You wouldn't know him." She said simply, picking her bag up from the chair and heading towards the hallway again. "Can I have one too please?" She said motioning to the boiling kettle.

I opened my mouth to argue but then one of my two phones buzzed.

Can I see you tonight? X

I smiled and instantly replied.

How and when? X

I pulled down two mugs and started making the tea before I got another response.

I'll come and get you. I feel like a drive. X

I replied, agreeing of course, and shoved my phone into my pocket, when I went for the milk I saw Alex had returned. I didn't know how long she had been watching me, but she looked kind of sad. "What?" I asked hesitant.

"It's just, I've seen you smile like that before." I frowned. "And I aw Adam at school today."

"What was he doing there?" I jumped when my dad's voice entered the kitchen. Alex looked like she had been caught red handed with the way her eyes went wide.

I just quickly shook my head. "He had to pick up some grades I guess." I said pouring the milk into the tea. "I didn't really speak to him." I lied.

My dad nodded, placing his hands on my shoulders and his lips to the back of my head. "Good. You don't need that in your life." He stated as I squeezed the tea bags out. "You have too much to focus on this year without boys getting in the way."

I knew that. I did. But I didn't care as only 2 hours later after dinner I said goodbye to my parents and walked to the end of the street to climb into Daniels black land rover defender. "This isn't the car you drive to school?" I commented as I climbed in.

Before he responded, he lent forward and kissed my lips quick and hard. Like it was an everyday occurrence. "Yeah, I only use this car to pick up girls." I laughed but fastened my seatbelt as he started the car back up. "You know me. I like cars. The insignia is for work, the defender is for play."

"Then what's Zeniver for?" He smiled and pulled away from the curb.

"Zeniver is the perfect combination of the two."

I didn't bother to ask where we were going as he drove. I just listened to him talk or hum along to the radio. I let his hand fall onto my lap to clasp my hand as the other stayed on the wheel. I watched him as he drove and counted all of my blessings that he was here with me. That he wanted me. Nobody else. And he was willing to risk everything for it. It was what every girl wanted.

Suddenly he pulled the car over, and when I looked at the dash I realised we had been driving for over an hour. "Where are we?" I asked but he only undid his seatbelt and turned a little to face me.
