I walked out of Stevens office after telling him I wouldn't be here tomorrow, Friday. Considering my lack of control recently I have to take the whole day off. I would drive up to Beacon tomorrow morning and the others would arrive in the afternoon before the moon rises.

I was in a surprisingly good mood as I walked to the atrium to get something to eat. I opened the doors and walked to the queue, discreetly scanning the room in hopes of catching Haylie in her natural habitat. I looked away when I found her and heightened my senses.

"What are you going as on Friday?" One of the girls asked either her or the group. She was the one to reply though.

"I might be a cat. I can't be bothered to dress up properly." She answered just as the sound of a can being opened sounded.

"As long as you're fine with being 1 of 20 cats?" A different girl asked, and I looked up to see her nod while taking a sip of diet coke. "At least wear something ridiculously slutty." She begged and I could basically feel Haylie's smile even though she wasn't fully facing me.

"No thank you. I'm happy being a nun cat if I have to." I chuckled to myself at that. I knew she meant it. That's my girl.

Another girl leaned forward, closer to Haylie. "Well, you have to look hot because I heard a cheeky rumour..." I stiffened as she trailed off. "That you and Josh have been talking and he's planning to make a move at the party." What the fuck does she mean? Haylie and Josh have been talking? About what? What kind of move?

"What?!" Haylie asked confused. "We have not been talking!" She denied and thankfully I could hear the honesty but I was still pissed off. "He texted me about the party, which I then told you guys about, and we text here and there but nothing flirty."

You shouldn't even be fucking texting him. I felt my teeth clench.

"Really because he sent me a screenshot of your texts last night." A boy jumped in. I watched with my arms folded as the boy pulled his phone out.

"He what?" One of the girls laughed, Haylie was smiling which pissed me off even more. "Let us see!" I took a step further in the line but kept my eyes and ears on the table.

The group all laughed, and Haylie buried her head in her, folded, arms on the table.

"You can stay the night if you want, a few other people are staying." I could smell the blood I was drawing from my own palm.

"He said that! Which I declined!" She defended. That made me ease up a bit.

"Yeah, but you then said, don't you remember what happened the last time we shared a bed..." Haylie just shrugged as if it was nothing but I couldn't help the knowledge that if the situation was reversed she would lose it with me. "That is so flirting!" The table laughed.

What the FUCK happened last time they shared a bed?! When did they share a bed?!

"No, it's not! I was just reminding him that it's a bad idea." She defended.

"Josh has always liked you though. It's obvious! He was always so jealous of Adam." Another girl jumped in.

Haylie sighed. "Doesn't matter, I'm not interested in Josh. He's a good friend that's it." I wanted to say I was convinced but I wasn't and I hated now that I had this knowledge before the harvest this weekend.

That conversation ended there. I got to the front of the queue and ordered a bottle of water and an apple. My appetite had mysteriously disappeared. I stood in the corner of the atrium pretending to be observing the students.
