EDITED - Daniels picture

I woke up in the same bed.

Daniels bed.

Except this time my two friends weren't next to me. In a panic I turned to the clock and saw it was 11:20, they wouldn't have gone to school and they wouldn't have left me here alone.

I slowly moved out of the bed but something caught my eye. Something I hadn't seen in this room before. A single picture frame, with one photo. It was at Simons wedding. Daniel and I were dancing, we were smiling and it brought me back to how he was talking about marriage and forever. All while hiding who he really was.

I wanted to throw the picture at the floor until in the background I saw Ben, Jamie and Zach. Laughing with Emma. Even in the picture I caught Zach's eyes. They grey eyes that were fixed on Daniel and I. And it reminded me of what he had done. He had kissed me right before Travis found us.

I couldn't think about that right now, because while he didn't turn into the same thing Daniel had, he was still a monster.

Due to my many nights at Daniels, I still had some clothes here. I had pulled on a pair of Nike shorts last night with an oversized sweatshirt. I walked out of the room expecting to hear my friends but it was silent.

Against my previous thoughts, the flat was empty apart from Daniel sat at the dining table behind the sofa. He was sipping on a mug of coffee as his eyes trailed over his iPad. "You're awake." He said, not even turning to look at me. The hearing was something I would have to get used to. Except I didn't want to get used to it.

"Where's the girls?" I whispered, still partly terrified that he would lunge at me.

He finally turned to me, placing the mug down as he examined me for a few seconds. "Zach took them home. About an hour ago."

"They wouldn't have left me." I said, hurt rippling through me.

He sighed. "I asked them not to wake you. They know we need to talk."

"We don't have any more to talk about. You told us everything yesterday." I said hating the way my voice shook when I realised, we were completely alone.

"I can hear your heartbeat Haylie. I know you're scared."

"And how many times have you listened to my heart to know how I was feeling?" I suddenly spat, infuriated at the betrayal.

He looked down for a second, clenching his fist once before extending his fingers slowly. "It's part of who I am, I can't just turn it off."

"I want to go home." I said quickly.

He nodded and stood up, making me step back. "I'll take you home I promise. We just need to talk first." He took a step towards me but I took another step back. "Please don't step away from me." He pleaded.

"Then don't step towards me." I replied not caring about the pain in his eyes. "I want to go home now."

He took another deep breath. "Can you please, for one second try to imagine what it has been like not being able to tell you?" I bit my lip to stop me from screaming out. "To hide this part of my life. To be terrified every single day that you would find out and reject me for it." I didn't want to imagine it. I just wanted to go home. "I love you Haylie. I have always loved you. And you love me." I started to shake my head.

"No." I whispered. "No. I loved a man that didn't exist." A tear escaped my eye. "You shouldn't have let me fall in love with you." The words never meant more then they did right now. And by the way he took a step back, he knew it too.
