EDITED

We sat in silence. Never in the ten years we had known each other had we been this quiet when together. But then again none of us knew what to say. For the past few months, we thought we knew exactly what we were doing. We thought we were invincible. But as I turned my head and looked at my two best friends, I knew we had the same thoughts. We were in too deep. We've lost control of ourselves, the people around us and the world we live in. We got mixed up in something impossible.

I looked at the time on the dashboard of the SUV we stole from outside the warehouse. Considering Travis' keys started it, I'm guessing it was his. It was 4:25 in the morning. Hugging my knees closer to my chest I turned to the driver. Megan. One of her hands was on the wheel while the other held her head, her elbow propped up by the open window frame.

I then turned my head more and turned to Scarlett in the back. I never saw Scarlett looking more innocent than right now. She was looking outside into the dark night as we passed unfamiliar trees. Her face was stained with tears, and she tried to wipe at her eyes making her black mascara smudge round her eyes. I had found a packet of tissue and wiped my make up off, but she still clutched the one I gave her in her hand.

I sighed turning back to stare at the empty road ahead of us. "So, what's the plan? We just going to keep driving till we see a sign or something?" I asked and Megan let out a breath.

"What else are we supposed to do?" She stated bluntly.

"We should try to get back to The Fever." Scarlett suggested quietly. "Find Dwayne then maybe..."

She was interrupted by Megan's laugh. "Dwayne? Are you joking Scarlett?" She stated harshly. "They're best friends he probably knows about them. Hell, he probably is one."

"You don't know that!" She protested quickly and I turned to look at her. "Haylie?"

I managed to smile lightly not wanting to be as harsh. "He knows about them scar." I said slowly and she shook her head, shrinking back into her seat.

I don't think I was meant to hear her, but I did. "You didn't know and you're his fucking girlfriend." My eyes narrowed slightly.

"It's not my fault scar?" I said and she stayed silent, glaring outside. I turned and looked to Megan. "Megan?" When she didn't answer I got frustrated. "Do you seriously blame me for this?" I asked but they both stayed silent, giving me my answer. Instead of arguing, I turned back to the world passing us by.

After another half hour of silence, a light came on. "What is that?" I asked when Megan cursed and hit the steering wheel.

She groaned before replying. "We have no petrol." She said as the car started to stop.

"What?" Scarlett jumped forward.

"We have no fucking petrol!" Megan repeated angry.

She unbuckled her seatbelt and jumped out the car slamming the door in the process just before she let out a scream that made me wince.

"What are we supposed to do now?" Scarlett asked me in a panic.

I just scoffed and jumped out the car like Megan did. Megan was pacing angrily in front of the car. "Meg we aren't going to get anywhere if we get angry." I told her just as Scarlett exited the car. "We need to stay calm and think of a plan." I stated and let out a breath. Trying to calm myself down.

"Do you think they're going to come looking for us?" Scarlett asked looking scared.

Megan nodded. "Of course, they are. We know their secret. They have to make sure we don't tell anyone." She said and I nodded agreeing.
