EDITED
Haylie pov
It was just after 10 when I got home. I had left Daniels, filled the girls in on the night while we headed to Luke's and then spent the following two hours sat on the floor returning to my life as a normal teenager.
Luke had sent a text to our group chat, 'Friends', which Ollie so creatively called it since we were three girls and three boys, saying he had broken up with his girlfriend. And of course we regrouped only to find him playing Xbox and drinking beer as if nothing had happened. He said it didn't bother him, that she was a bitch anyway. He didn't need her, and of course we listened and took turns entertaining him while the others chatted in the corner.
He only lived a few houses down the road from me so as soon as I left, I sent Daniel a text. Are you still awake?
It only took a few seconds before my phone started to ring. I declined and shot another text asking for two minutes.
So, as soon as I was safely back inside my bedroom, I rang him back. "Hey." I whispered.
"Hey, have you only just got home?" He asked, the sound of a door shutting in the background coming through the phone.
"Yeah, we stopped at our friend Luke's house." He didn't say anything for a moment so I laughed. "Luke's not friends with Adam don't worry." He let out a forced laugh but I didn't comment on it again. "Are the guys still there?"
He sighed, and I could practically picture him nodding. "Yeah. But they'll be leaving soon. Now that I have a big boy job."
I laughed and started stripping myself of my clothes one handed. "I definitely don't remember you being this responsible in Cannes." I teased to which he only laughed back. "It's a good look on you."
"I think you're a good look on me." He whispered to match my tone.
I bit my lip to stop from laughing again. "That didn't even make sense."
"I know, I've had a bit to drink." He groaned as if realising he had drank more than he wanted to tonight. "What are you doing now?"
I put my phone on the nightstand for a second while pulling on my pyjamas. "I'm just getting ready for bed." I whispered and he groaned.
"Is it inappropriate to ask for pictures?"
I laughed again, crawling under the duvet and bringing the phone back to my ear. I couldn't believe how much his words affected me. Something as simple as that made me tempted to almost do it. I was in such trouble if that was what he did to me. "Very inappropriate Mr Parker."
He groaned again. "Jesus call me that again."
I covered my mouth to hold in my laugh before shaking my head. "You are definitely drunk." He didn't respond which I took as a confession and sighed. "Maybe you aren't as responsible as I thought. It is a school night you know."
"I know. I know." He sighed. "Go on, I'll let you go back to sleep. I still have a game to win."
I waited a moment, suddenly not wanting the conversation to end. "Thank you, for tonight."
If it was possible to feel a smile through the phone, I did. "Anytime. Literally, anytime." He was silent for a moment. "You're going to have to hang up you know. I don't think I can do it."
I smiled into the phone, my heart leaping that he felt the same. But I knew I did have to go. "Goodnight Daniel."
I waited for a goodbye but none came. "If I don't say goodbye, do you have to stay on the phone with me?" I closed my eyes, hoping to savour this moment a little longer.
