"I just got on the bus." I said sitting down while on the phone to Scarlett. "What's up?"

"Dwane asked me out on a date." She said sounding confused.

I was confused as to why she was confused. "Okay, what's the problem? Do we hate him now?" She groaned.

"Believe it or not I've never been on a date!" She yelled this confession like it was world ending.

I cocked my head even though she couldn't see me. "How have you never been on a date? You've had boyfriends." I said remembering the assholes.

"Yeah," She sighed, sounding even more stressed. "but those guys never took me on dates or even had a decent conversation."

"Oh wow," I said folding my legs. "Well say yes, you've fancied him since Cannes." The memories of the first night we even met him were at the front of my mind.

"I know but I'm still nervous, like what am I supposed to wear? Where are we going? What if he..." I was trying to listen, but it was hard when the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I had never had such a strong feeling like somebody was watching me. "Haylie!" I nearly jumped at Scarlets tone.

I took a deep breath trying to calm the pit in my stomach. "Sorry Scar. Do you mind if I call you back when I get home?"

She agreed with a sigh before hanging up. I put my phone away and rubbed the back of my neck, wondering if maybe there was just something tickling me.

"Excuse me." I jumped at the sound of an unfamiliar voice. I turned to the guy sat a few seats away, leaning forward with his eyes on me. "Hi sorry do you have the time?" He smiled.

I was suddenly immensely relived and embarrassed but nodded. "It's 10:25." The bus came to a stop as I read it off my phone and he nodded while standing.

"Thanks Haylie." I smiled back as he moved past me and started to make his way towards the doors. My smile suddenly dropped as he turned just before the doors and sent a wink my way. I turned back around and saw the bus was now empty aside from me.

Just before the bus pulled away, I turned and found the man stood in the bus stop. As soon as he caught my eye, he sent a short wave. As we pulled away, I tried to remember his face. Tried to remember if I've met him before. I must have done. How else would he have known my name.

As soon as I shut the front door behind me, I let my back fall onto it with a deep breath. I had practically ran from the bus stop still feeling uneasy about the interaction on the bus. "Haylie?" I jumped when my mums voice echoed through the hall.

She came out from the living room at the same time my dad came from the kitchen a whiskey in his hand. "What's wrong?" She asked when I didn't immediately respond.

I quickly shook my head and started to slip off my converse as I pushed away from the door. "Nothing, you just scared me I didn't think you guys would still be up."

My dad folded his arms as he leant against the archway, his drink still balanced in one hand. "We wanted to hear about this boyfriend."

I rolled my eyes. Reminding myself that I couldn't divert from the topic forever and I would have to murder Charlie in her sleep. "I don't have a boyfriend. He's just a friend."

"A land rover is a pretty expensive car." He started with his eyebrows raised. "Not one somebody your age could afford."

I nodded. "No but somebody my age's parents might be able to." Despite the scolding he still managed a small smile. "Besides, what does it matter if he's not my age. I just told you he's a friend."
