Melody's POV
It was better than I had envisioned. The working environment was great; all colleagues are very friendly. After I had a chat with Jared, he brought me around our level to meet my new colleagues that we will be working closely with. He then proceeded to bring me to my desk. It was an open concept area in another office room. Few tables were gathered around.
Although my job title was Management Trainee, I had to go to different department in the company to learn the ropes. To learn each department on their workflows and process. Since I am new to this industry, my first assignment was to assist Jared.
Jared's job was to take care of the artistes.
In a simpler word: artistes' nanny.
He had to ensure his artistes are well rested and thus able to perform well in their jobs. He also has to go through all the job offers that the artistes are being offered and select jobs that suits the individual artist. He has a few subordinates working under him. Each of them had a few artistes to manage.
"I personally manage Daniel. We had been working together since his debut." Jared says while we are walking towards the lift.
"He is our company main artist. He had just renewed his contract with us and is currently on a vacation with his family." He looks at his watch. "He is coming back this afternoon."
The very last information had perked my interest.
We had entered the lift and he pressed level 22.
"I am bringing you to see Wilson. He is the CEO of Media Management. I am reporting to him. In the event that you are unable to reach me, you may contact him directly." Jared said.
The interior design on this level is different from my floor. Everything looks chic and sophisticated. It is very clean looking and bright with full ceiling to floor length windows. The view was stunning.
"Good morning, Alexis. This is Melody, she is currently assisting me. Is Wilson in his office already?" Jared spoke to an older lady which I assumed is the receptionist of this floor.
"Morning Jared. Yeah, go ahead in." Alexis answered.
We continued walking towards a big double door. Jared knocked twice and entered.
The room is big. A big glass desk with two computer monitors situated on it. Some sofas are scattered on the corner of the room with a shelf full of liquors on it.
When Wilson peeked up from his computer screens, I was surprised to be looking at the green eye man I had come across in the lift. Just that he is wearing a pair of glasses on his nose this time.
"Hey Wilson, let me introduce you to Melody Jeremy. Our new colleague." Jared went forward and proceed to sit on one of the sofas.
"Hello. Good morning." I said in a soft voice while staring at him. Wilson smiled and I saw dimple formed on his right cheek.
"Welcome abroad, Melody." Wilson said and extended his hand for me to shake. He looks very young to be in such a high position. I was actually kind of expecting him to be an older man managing the world-renowned company.
We proceeded together towards the sofas area. Jared was looking at his phone and was busy typing.
"Finally, we met. I was looking at your resume the other day and was very honoured to have you in our company. I was actually your university alumnus." Wilson says while looking directly into my eyes. I liked that he has those sincere looking eyes. His eyes focus on you when he is talking. Some people do not focus when talking to you which I found it rather rude. Their eyes drift to somewhere like the conversation is not important.
"Thank you." I replied. "I am very excited to join this big family and thank you for having me here."
"Daniel is back." Jared's voice suddenly appeared and we both looked at him. "I'll bring you to the HR downstairs to have your documents settled. Then we will head out." Jared says while standing up and walking towards the door.
I quickly followed.
"Ask him to give me a call when he is available." Wilson says to Jared and the latter signalled a thumbs up before stepping out of the office.
"He brought forward his flight and had just landed. I'll bring you to his apartment as he requires his score book for some fine tuning to the songs that he has written lately."
We had been to the HR department after meeting Wilson and we are now inside a car.
"You know how to drive, right?" Jared speaks again.
"Yes." I replied.
"You will be driving a company car which you will have to ferry the artist you are working with. Also, the phone you are holding now will be our communicating tool. Inside you will find my number. Please keep this phone on 24/7." I am looking at said phone Jared had just mentioned. It's a new phone which HR had given me a moment ago.
On my lap, there's a score book which has my name on it. My hands hovering on the letters. Why did Daniel name this book Melody?
I was lost in my thoughts when the car stopped. We are at a basement of a building with expensive looking cars around.
"Hello. What's wrong?" Jared speaks coldly on his phone after locking the car.
"C'mon.. What does she want this time??" His tone tells me that he is on the verge of screaming to whoever he is speaking now and is holding back on his temper. "I am coming."
Jared turns and look at me apologetically. "Sorry, I have to go settle Amanda. She is giving me headache every day. Go to the highest level in this building. This is the spare key card for Daniel's apartment." He hands me a card with Daniel's name and the unit number stating on it.
"I had informed him about you coming with me. Just pass him this score book and see if he has anything that needs your help." Jared says while entering his car.
"Call me if there's anything". I was then left alone in the basement carpark as the car I had just arrived in drove off.
I entered the lift and pressed the penthouse level. I bet this apartment must have cost a fortune because I'll need to scan the key card before I can press the lift buttons. Even the lift smelled so nice. The lift door opened with a ding sound and I stepped out. It was a personal lift that was connected to the living area of the house.
And there, I saw a topless man standing near the window at the living room. His back was facing me.
"You are here. Where is my Melody..." He turns while speaking.
"I am here" I whispered to myself and finally I saw him.
