I follow him out. I can't help it. I need to know what's going on. When I finally have my eyes on him again, he's pacing back and forth in the backyard.

"Who is Mikael?" I ask as I rush to catch up to him

He doesn't stop moving

"Nik talk to me." I insist
"We need a witch." He says
"That's not what they said in there. Look whatever this is, I can help."

He stops pacing and turns around to face me.

"Not happening love."
"Why not?"
"You said there were what? Almost thirty members of your pack? Mikael has slaughtered packs even larger."
"Nik who is Mikael?" I ask

He sighs.

"Our father. Technically he is my step father. You know from what I've shared that my mother turned us. She turned him as well, to clean up the mistake she believed she had made when she turned us into vampires."
"Let me help."
"Absolutely not."
"From what I heard, all you need is someone to tell you if it's him or not." I point out
"Lorelei we can use a witch to get his location and we wouldn't have to risk Mikael killing anyone of us."

My ears ring at the word 'us'.

A team.

A family.

"I need you to find me a witch." Nik says interrupting my thoughts

"You're kidding." I say
"Quite the opposite."

I let out a laugh.

"Nik that's ridiculous. I can't just get you a witch. We just moved here and in case you forgot, I'm not allowed out of the yard."

He steps closer to me, annoyed.

He continues moving towards me, slowly, until he's right in my face. But I don't back down. His fierce blue eyes stare back at me and I stare right at him, unblinking, unflinching.

"The next time I tell you to do something, I expect it done without question." He says in a low voice

Once he walks away, I let out the breath I didn't realize I'd been holding.
