Klaus's POV:

I angrily make my way to Freya's room when Elijah appears and blocks my path. I'm a few feet away and I can hear Freya's voice chanting a spell inside. Elijah stands between me and the door, anticipating my next move.

"Get out of my way." I say
"Brother you will leave her be." He says
"Do you have any idea what she and Freya have been doing?" I demand
"I am aware of her hunt, yes. I did not say anything because I believed that when she was ready, she would inform you." Elijah replies unfazed by my anger

I try heading for her door again but he holds out a hand, placing it firmly on my chest.

"I cannot let this secrecy continue under my roof!" I snap
"If you interrupt her spell, we will be at risk even longer." He says

I shoot him a look but back off. I'd never tell him but he may be right.

Lorelei and Freya have been sneaking around yeah but we have to find this witch first before she decides to stop with the mind games and comes for us straight on.

I head back into Lorelei's room but it's empty. I find a note on the table on top of the map.

Hunting.

I decide that this time, I'll join her. I leave a note for Hayley to find in case she starts looking for me. I'd spent the morning with Hope as she toddled around the house, her little feet padding along as she explored the way she did every day, checking it all out.

Out in the bayou with Lorelei.

Then I take off.

Once I hit the woods, I listen intently for a long moment. Other than myself, I hear the faint sound of a heartbeat too fast for a normal creature. I shed my clothing and turn.

Now a dark tan wolf, I take off into the woods.

I run through the creeks and jump over fallen trees when I'm side tackled by a black wolf. The wolf turns back and Lorelei's angry eyes stare down at me.

"What the hell do you want?" She demands

I nod towards the woods.

She turns back and we spend the rest of the night into the sunrise running wild.

On our way back to the compound, walking in the faint orange glow of the sun, Lorelei turns to me. We'd reclothed ourselves and walked out of the woods but hadn't said much to one another even though I can see her mind racing.

"Look the truth is, ever since that douchebag told me about my parents, I've been taking off every hunt to check the mountains for the pack and every time I've struck out. Freya can't track them which means they are either cloaked or dead. Hector has proved hard to kill before so that only leaves one option." She says

I think about it for a long moment.

"I get that this is scary for you. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. But this is my decision." She says firmly breaking the silence
"Lorelei-" I begin but she cuts me off
"Nik if Hector did kill my parents - and I wouldn't put it past him- he's going to pay with his own life." She says

I stare at her. Her eyes are fierce with a fire I've never seen. She's not angry as I'd expect. She's cold and motivated.

"All I was going to say was that I want you to be safe." I say

That's not 100% true. I wish she wasn't doing it in the first place but I know it's not my place to say so. I wasn't in her life back then. From the stories she's told me, Hector's favorite game was torturing children simply because he could. For that, I'd happily kill him myself but his life is not mine to take. Lorelei would never forgive me if I did that.

"Regardless, it's going to take some time to hunt them down. Even with Freya's help." She says
"Would you mind an extra hand?" I ask
"Thanks love but I'm okay." She says and wraps me in a long embrace.

I can feel her fingers squeeze my shoulders but she doesn't step away. I listen as her heart starts to slow down from its previously racing beat. Only then does she relax a bit more.

"Promise me you'll be careful." I say
"I promise."

She turns from staring at the sunrise to me.

"I promise."
