I walk into the living room the next morning. Nik was nowhere to be found and Rebekah and Kol had been out all morning which leaves me alone with Elijah. Luckily we'd both been up to our own projects. I'd been in the study looking over maps on how to get where I needed to be.
Where Mikael is.
I turn the corner to find yet another room that has nobody in it.
I finally spot Elijah standing in the backyard looking out into the woods, staring at nothing specific.
"I hope you've had a pleasant morning." He says
I walk over to him and he turns to face me.
At first I wonder if he's saying it sarcastically since I'm not a morning person and I stick to being awake from dusk till dawn. Then I wonder if he saw me coming back from my hunt the other night.
Does he know that I'm the one who took the daggers? He had seem suspicious as I did when Kol was digging around.. He even looked at Rebekah with a curious glance but he had said nothing. The last time the daggers were seen was the one that Kol had his hands on after he undaggered Rebekah.
The one I had stolen after I had found it in his drawer.
"Elijah I need to talk to you." I say
"I'm listening."
"I know you'd never betray Nik but I don't think his plan is the best one. I can get to Kansas before a witch would even be done preforming the spell." I say"And how are you so certain?" He asks
I shrug.
"I used to race other werewolves for some cash. I know I'm fast enough." I say
"Very well. I will handle Nikklaus but if you haven't returned, I will have no choice but for him to do as he wishes." He says
"These might help." I say and hand him the silver daggers
"These will have no effect on him." He says
"Yeah but now he can't use them on you. I think Kol was looking for them but I got to them first." I sayElijah's POV:
A few hours later, I hear the front door open. I walk into the study to find Nikklaus staring at a map intently.
"Any news?" He asks
"Nothing of importance." I replyWe're silent for a long few moments before he finally musters the power to ask the question that's on his mind.
"Do you believe it's him?" He asks quietly
"Until we know for certain, we have to act as if it is, otherwise we would be putting ourselves at great risk." I sayBefore he can turn around, I snap his neck and place him in Rebekah's coffin. I shut the lid and walk out of the room.
I know Nikklaus better than anyone.
His paranoia will best him and we will all pay the price of his recklessness.
