Lorelei's POV:

I let out a sigh as I stare at the map in front of me. Over the past few months I'd crossed off some of the mountain locations because the pack wasn't there. Freya was helping me look for them but since they were cloaked, there was nothing she could do. I didn't say anything to anyone but ever since I was kidnapped by Kane, I'd been searching as much as I could, taking off at night after every hunt. As far as I could tell, nobody knew what was going on.

Hayley seems to be getting a little suspicious but with this witch threat, it all seems forgotten. At least, I thought so until Nik walked into my bedroom.

"Hey. How's the witch hunt going?" I ask
"We know who we're up against. It's some witch that used to live in the town that Freya and Dahlia had destroyed back in the 14th century." Nik says as he walks around
"Wait. 14th century? How could she still be alive?" I ask
"We don't know yet. I have a question myself." He says as he walks over to where I'm sitting

There's no time to try and hide anything.

"What exactly have you been up to love?" He asks as his eyes take in the map.

He turns from the map to me and I know that the best answer is the honest one, no matter how much he may hate what I'm doing.

"I'm hunting the pack down." I say quietly
"And you've done all this by yourself?" He asks gesturing to the map

I'm silent for a long moment. I don't want him to go after Freya for the decisions I made.

"Answer me Lorelei!" He demands

I don't think I have any other option.

"Freya's been helping me." I say

No sooner is her name out of my mouth, Nik stands up and starts walking to the door.

"I asked her to." I insist
"And she should have told you 'no.' " He says and leaves
