Makayla
When the Professors walk in, I think that they are furious. Which wouldn't be the first time. Instead, they chose to award ten points to Gryffindor and Slytherin for helping each other out, which baffled me because we didn't even help each other. It was all the Gryffindors.
I walk into the common room with Jordyn and Louis, holding Mackerel. "I needed to look for him!"
"He's a cat, Makayla!" Jordyn argues. "There was a troll on the loose, you should've just gone with the Head students."
I roll my eyes, setting Mackerel on the couch as he runs up the stairs to the Boy's bedrooms I sigh.
"Jordyn is kind of right..." I hear Louis say as I sit down on the couch. I look at him confused.
"Why would you agree with her? I've wanted your throat since the moment first year started."
"That's fair, but you still need to listen to her."
I stare at the wall in consideration. As I stare at the wall, both of them give up and go to their rooms, leaving me in the room alone.
"Stop coming into my room!" I hear Louis yell from upstairs. Following that, Mackerel runs downstairs and jumps on my lap.
"I said to stop going into people's room, Mack," I say to the stupid cat before going to my room.
Louis
I listen to Makayla walk to her room. The truth is, I don't know why I agreed with Jordyn. I know that I should've, but do I know that I meant it? I'm not sure.
I wasn't worried about her, I believe. But, it was a troll. The worst way to die is by a troll, so of course I followed Jordyn. Makayla may be cruel and cold, but no one deserves to die.
Then, I hear a knock on my door. "Who is it?"
"Your amazing little sister!" Ann's voice exclaims, muffled through the door. That's a bit of an overstatement, but okay. I open the door and she leaps onto me, wrapping her arms around me in the shape of a hug. "I don't know anyone in Hufflepuff, it's not good!"
"I know one person, but you don't want to be friends with that person."
"Who?"
"Chase Malfoy? She's Makayla's sister and not to mention, almost as horrible as her."
"Oh well, that's not good."
"I'm sure you'll make friends soon, though."
"I have! I became friends with this one guy named–"
"Hold on–guy? You're talking to a guy? When did you get permission?"
"I need permission to make–a friend?"
"Yeah!"
Suddenly, I hear Makayla's voice by the door. "That's no way to treat a lady, Louis."
I glance at her and see her licking a lollipop like a child. That's when I realize that she's never said my name out loud before. What?
You may be wondering why that is so important, but don't worry. I'll simplify it for you.
Makayla is one of the most popular girls in school. She knows everyone in the school and doesn't put in the effort to remember people's names. That's why people get so excited when talking to her because if she remembers their name the next time she sees them, they are considered 'special,' or something. It means that she likes you or something. Not in a crush way, I don't think, just in a friend way. Am I a friend now?
Ann turns to Makayla. "Oh, hi Makayla!"
"Hi... What's your name again?" See what I mean?
"It's Ann..."
I can tell right when she realizes who Ann is. "Oh! Right! Annelise! Hi!"
Ann's face lights up. She already understands the entire thing with Makayla and names, which is surprising since she can be a complete idiot at times. If you tell her I said that, I will come for your head.
Note from Makayla Malfoy: I told her :)
"Anyway, bye!" Makayla says, walking off.
I stare at where she was recently standing for a hot minute before Ann yells at me, "Louis Adam Lupin, pay attention!"
Huh? Why was I so wonderstruck?
"Huh–What happened?"
"Ugh!" Ann scoffs, walking out as she rolls her eyes.
Women are so confusing, man.
