"when you say i seem angry, i get more angry."

Makayla

I have been told that I'm 'in danger' with Sirius Black on the loose way too many times. So has Harry.

Sirius is Harry's godfather, meanwhile he's my uncle. It isn't pleasant. He has the ability to transform in and out of the form of a wolf. Sirius was also friends with James, lilly, Remus, and Peter Pettigrew—someone I've fortunately never formally met—when they were in Hogwarts.

"Malfoy," Dumbledore says. I look at him. We're in his office. I've been told that I need to talk to someone about what happened in the summer. The only thing is that I only told Jordyn and Cedric. So, one of them had to have told someone. I just don't know who.

"I know what your father did was hard to deal with," he says, "so I need you to tell me exactly what happened."

I take a deep breath, going back to the moment in my mind; going back to me getting hit by the person who taught me to breathe. The sound of Mackarel crying due to Lucius Malfoy holding him by his heck hairs echoes through my head.

"What's the point of this?" I ask, opening my eyes and avoiding the subject.

"To help you un—"

"I understand quite well!" I interrupt him. "My father hit me. That's all that goes to the story. I don't need help. All I need is for everyone to stop bringing the moment up and treating me like a wounded animal! What my father did was shit, I know, I was there, but I just need this school year to be normal for once."

"Has it?" he asks.

"What?"

"Has it been normal?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"Remus is a teacher now, my uncle escaped Azkaban and everyone's treating it like a bad thing, Louis and I are running for class president against each other—which is basically no different—but he's only running because he feels sorry for me, and—"

"Did he say that?"

"He probably said it to his best friend, Grayson."

"Okay, but did you hear him say it?"

I take a moment to think about it. No, I didn't see him say it, his lips weren't moving. But I did hear him say it.

"When I'm upset and he's in the room, I can hear his voice, but his lips won't be moving."

"Are you implying that you can read his mind?"

"Everyone," I say, "but I can only read Louis' when I'm upset and he can see it."

"By the way you're putting it, he must be letting his guard down around you, especially when you're upset."

"Why?" I scrunch my eyebrows in confusion. "What reason would he have to let his guard down? We hate each other! If anything, his guard should be up! I could punch him at any moment!"

"Miss Malfoy, it seems that this hatred you proclaim exists between you and Mr. Lupin is one-sided." Malfoy.

"Well, I don't like him, so how?"

"It can be the other way around, Miss Malfoy." Malfoy.

"Oh," I say, confused. "Wait, huh—?"

"Miss Malfoy—" Malfoy.

"Okay, that's it," I snap.

"What's it?"

"Malfoy. I'm done with it! All everyone calls me is Malfoy, Malfoy, Malfoy. But the only one who doesn't is Louis, and I hate that. Of all people to be nice to me and call me by my actual name, it's him. Him!"

"Mal—"

"If you call me that one more time, I might as well burn this castle to the ground."

Dumbledore sighs, "Same time tomorrow?"

"Whatever," I say, walking out of his office.

When I enter The Great Hall, I freeze at the sight of Jordyn, Ann, and Louis hanging out with Nora, my sister. One of them has to be here. I'm stiff as stone, yet cold as ice.

Her eyes land on mine, and she smiles wide, "Makayla!"

I manage to smile as she runs over to me, squeezing my legs as tight as her seven year old arms will let her. I don't squeeze back. Instead, I'm staring at Lucius Malfoy sitting at the Hufflepuff table, speaking to Cedric. My heart grows cold, getting shot with a thousand curses at the same time.
