"i'd rather burn my whole life down than listen to one more second of all this bitching and moaning."
Annelise
I haven't seen or talked to anyone that's in the games except for Harry. Duh. He's in my year.
I've been sitting with Jordyn, Preston, and Theo at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I know that some people have noticed. Makayla was the first, then Mattheo.
I like Preston. Don't ask me why. He is nice to me. The look on Makayla's face everyday shows how she doesn't approve. That's why I've been sitting away from them with Jordyn and Theo. I knew that mostly everyone wouldn't support it. Specifically, her.
Boys aside, I have heard people saying that Harry and Makayla cheated to get into the games, but I don't know what to believe. I mean, do people know how much effort it would take for them to cheat in the first place? The twins have proven that it's practically impossible to get past the age line. So tell me how the two of them possibly could?
I'll be waiting.
Louis has been bugging me lately because he's worried about Makayla. Simp.
"I don't want her to get killed!" he complains, following me around the potions room as I put things away for Severus.
"You think that Makayla Malfoy will die from a wizarding game?" I snort.
"We have to be at least 17 to participate! Don't you think that's odd?" he points out. "And even Dumbledore said it's dangerous!"
"Yes, he did," I say, sighing as I walk across the room.
He follows me. "I know how competitive she is! I also know that she'd be willing to risk her life there. With Cedric in there, I don't want her alone."
"She won't be alone," I grunt as I get on the tips of my toes to get a potion bottle to the top shelf. "She will have Harry."
"Harry can barely defend himself from Malfoy," he says, scoffing.
"Which one?" I smile softly as I get the bottle to be stable on the shelf.
"Who do you think?" he asks as I turn around. "I never call Makayla by her last name."
"You did in your first year," I say as I go to grab my stuff.
"That's because I was still upset and claimed I hated her." He sighs, following me out of the potions room and into the hall.
"You've never told me why you hated her so much."
"I never saw it as something relevant to share."
"I'd like to know, Louis."
He sighs, reluctantly saying, "Fine... One day, when we were five, I went to primary school, like always, expecting to find my best friend."
"Grayson?" I ask, interrupting him.
"No, the reason I hate Grayson is a different story. My best friend in kindergarten was Makayla, and she was genuinely kind back then. But this day was different. She was starting to become popular around this time and stopped hanging out with me. That's when she met Cedric."
"You guys were best friends once...?" I tease. "That was possible?"
He rolls his eyes as he says, "Not the point. The point is that Cedric was an asshole back then and bullied everyone. When he met Makayla, she started being rude like the rest of her family. When I asked her why she was avoiding me, she said that I was annoying and dorky."
I snort for a moment, but stop when he glares at me, then say, "Sorry."
"We started bickering more every year until you came to Hogwarts. She knew who you were because she met you when you were four."
"So that's why she's nice to me?"
"Yeah. I guess hanging out with you, meant hanging out with me, which is why she's nicer now. She's more used to how it used to be rather than how it was when she started getting popular."
I turn my head behind us when I hear footsteps and watch blonde hair fly around the corner. Makayla's hair.
The sight causes Louis to shut up as he nods in greeting. She passes by without a care in the world and we stand there for a moment.
Someone needs to teach him how to talk to girls for Merlin's sake.
