"this place made me feel worthless."
Makayla
We creep through the forest until we stumble upon my past self. She's with Harry. Well—she's following Harry. She almost catches up before Remus jumps out and lunges at her, pinning her to the ground. His claws seep into her skin until the pain boomerangs to me in reminder of the fact that I only creamed because it hurt, not because I wanted help.
"Is that my Father?" Louis asks. I silently nod. In the corner of my eye, I catch his jaw tensing up, and his hands lift up to his mouth. He starts howling.
"Louis!" I whisper, causing him to stop. "What the hell are you doing?"
"Saving your life, duh."
"Is that saving me?" I point to Remus, who is now charging toward us.
"Shit," he says under his breath. He then grabs my shoulders and pulls me closer to him as Remus rushes past us. My eyes frantically glance over to Annelise and Jordyn because they've been completely silent for a quick moment. They're giggling at each other as I easily get out of Louis' grasp.
Before I can ask what they are laughing about, I get distracting by my own past self. She starts trying to follow Harry again, but is stopped by a giant, white, pulsing light, flying through the forest. Dementors fly through the sky, but a few are closer to the ground. A few are closer to me.
The dementors take turns sucking the life out of my past self. Without even thinking, I remember the charm that Remus has been teaching Harry. Expecto Patronum; the Patronus charm. Think of your happiest moment in your life you can remember.
Okay, sure. I can do that. Maybe...
I think for the quickest second ever and point my wand at the dementors, saying, "Expecto Patronum!"
It doesn't work. The memory isn't happy enough.
