"we ain't keeping secrets."

The other Slytherins are having a mini party in the common room, playing music in the background as they study, play drinking games, or just watch. Grayson is about to join the games when he asks something about Makayla's hand. She blames it on a "potion-gone-wrong" in class today, which he quickly believes and walks off.
I, however, know that she was perfectly fine in Potions today, so when Grayson is gone, I sit next to her. She doesn't pay me any mind as we sit in an awkward silence.
"What do you want?" she finally asks.
"There was no potion-gone-wrong in class, Makayla," I point out.
"How would you know?" she asks with the same old annoyed tone.
"We were partners for the project," I respond. She sighs in defeat as my gaze falls down to her hand, now covered by the other. I nod in the direction of her hand as I say, "Show me."
She sighs again, slowly removing her other hand from covering the injured one. It's bad. You can see the words, "I must not tell lies," vaguely carved into her hand. I want to cry when I see it. Who could do this to her?
"Who?" I ask, my voice steady and firm.
"Umbridge," she mumbles.
My heart shatters in 100 different ways as I gently take her injured hand into mine. I can tell she's in pain and I just want to take all the pain away. She did nothing wrong. All she did was say what she believes. I haven't seen him alive, yet, but I'll take her word for it.
Note from Annelise: That's because you're BIASED!
"Have you—"
She shakes her head before saying, "Just you..."
"Makayla..."
"Dumbledore won't do anything. He's got enough going on."
"You don't know that..."
"Louis just drop it."
"No!" I say, whispering in a shout. "You need to tell a teacher! If Dumbledore knew, he'd make her leave!"
"Drop it!"
We fall silent. I don't know what to say. We're friends now. Why is she acting like this?
