"is it insensitive for me to say, get your shit together!"

Louis

Why'd I do that? Why'd I do that? Why'd I do that?

WHY DID I DO THAT?

I don't want to run for president. I have no reason to. The only reason I said I'd do it is because of a light in Makayla's eyes that started to go out when Father said she only got the role because she was the only one that wanted it. I'm going to run a shit campaign so she can win without it being given to her.

Note from Annelise: That's literally what you're doing right now, Louis.

"Louis?" Grayson, my best friend, snaps me out of my daydream. "You okay?"

"Yeah, I am just," I sigh, "running for president..."

"Oh, you're the second candidate? I thought you liked—"

"Shhh!" I press my hand to his mouth. "Keep your voice down!"

I remove my hand and he whispers, "I thought you liked her, why're you running against her?"

"Because," I whisper back, "I knew she didn't like being the only one running, so I want to make it so it isn't given to her easily."

Note from Makayla: You're just letting me know that I'm a good liar, so thank you.

"So you're going to lie to her face, while doing something to make it so something isn't handed to her, while handing it to her in the process?"

I take a moment to process what just came out of Grayson's mouth and hesitantly say, "Yes?"

Grayson laughs a little bit and says, "Okay, cool."

I walk into The Great Hall with Grayson, almost bumping into... Cedric. Of course.

"Sorry, Lupin."

Grayson walks to the Slytherin table while I stay behind to talk to Diggory.

"Hey, Diggory!" I call out.

He turns around, "What's up?"

"Can I talk to you somewhere private?"

Cedric laughs awkwardly, "Sure?"

We go to an empty hallway. To be honest, Diggory kind of scares me, so I'm a bit nervous.

"What's this about?" he asks.

"Makayla," I hesitate.

He bursts out into laughter, "Malfoy? What about her?"

"Does she seem different to you? I feel like things have been weird since the first day of third year... I mean, she yelled; she never yells. She yells at me, but this time she yelled at everyone."

"I can't tell you," he says. His throat is tightened, as if he is holding back tears.

"Why?"

"Just leave it, Lupin!" he storms off, returning to The Great Hall.

What is happening? Why is Cedric so heated over something that happened over the summer?

Then I remember something that happened last year.

With her father.
