"lights will guide you home."
Makayla
We walk into the darkened courtyard, looking for Harry and Hermione, and hopefully Sirius. I look around, not seeing any movement.
"Makayla!" Ann whispers. When I turn to her, she's pointing at the hallway. We stand in silence, hearing soft voices. One voice stands out to me. Sirius' voice.
I run to the hallway, turning around the wall. I stop in my tracks, smiling at the sight of Sirius and Buckbeak, alive and okay. Before Louis, Ann, and Jordyn can see them, I'm already running to Sirius and hugging him.
"Bright, young girl," Sirius whispers into my hair. He pulls out of the hug and cups my face into his hands. "Now, listen to me. We're not going to be able to stay together just yet. Not until you meet with Tonks and Remus this summer.
"Where is she supposed to go, then?" Jordyn asks. I look at my feet, remembering that she couldn't convince her aunt and uncle to let me stay over the course this summer. They're not really her aunt and uncle. She just calls them that to make living with strangers seem more normal. "They won't let her back in my house!"
I feel I tear roll down my cheek, then I quickly brush it off. Sirius doesn't notice, nobody notices. Good.
"Shit," I hear Louis' voice echo through my head. Okay, someone noticed.
"I was getting to that," Sirius says. "You'll stay with the Weasleys for the summer."
"What?" I shout.
Now what in hell am I staying in their house. It's in the middle of nowhere with no city noises to annoy me in teh night. And who things Ron will let me have my cats when Crookshanks already annoys him so much?
"You're being given a home, Makayla, take it."
I roll my eyes as he walks away from me, getting on Buckbeak's back. This is me realizing that I might just be forced to live with the Weasleys forever.
"Everyone is right about you two," Sirius says to Hermione and I as I walk up to stand next to her. "You both really are the brightest witches of your age."
Then he flies off with Buckbeak, going Merlin knows where. Harry and I watch him until even the small dot in the horizon disappears.
"Come on, guys," Hermione says. "We need to get back to Ron."
I nod, walking with the rest of the group to the medical wing. Harry slowly joins us.
Let's hope I'll be able to survive this summer. It starts tomorrow when I exit my dorm with my bags in my hands.
When we reach the medical wing, Dumbledore is just closing the door.
"We did it," Harry says, "just as you said!"
Dumbledore puts a clueless look on his face, "Did what?" He smiles then walks off.
We push open the doors to the medical wing just as all of our past selves disappear. Ron is startled.
"How is it you were there," he points to the spot we all once were, "and now you're there?"
"What is he talking about, Makayla?" Hermione asks me.
"Yeah, I mean—how can someone be two places at once?" I finish. All of us laugh.
