Makayla
We reach the castle and the first years, including Halston, go on the boats. This year, Ann finally gets to join us in riding on the self-driven carriages.
"How does this work?" Ann asks.
"We just get on and it moves," I respond.
"That's not how physics works at all!"
"Ann," I chuckle, "we're wizards and witches, and you think physics is important?"
"Oh right!"
We all laugh as we walk to the carriages. There was one more carriage left, as always, and two people have already sat on it. None other than Chase and Draco.
"Can we get a move on? I don't wanna be with this bitch for forever," Chase complains.
I want to complain as well, but that'd be childish, so I just get on the carriage, sitting next to Draco for everyone else's sake, and ignore him. Ignoring him this summer has been the easiest thing that I could ever do, along with the rest of the years after and before that.
The carriage starts moving and everyone sits there awkwardly. The awkwardness is coming from multiple different places. For example, Louis and I didn't talk at all this summer. Everything is still awkward after last year, but the time away just made it worse.
To break the silence, Ann says, "So, how was everyone's summer?"
I shrug, Jordyn shrugs, almost everyone shrugs. Everyone except for Chase and Draco.
"I had a wonderful summer, if I'm honest," Draco says proudly. I roll my eyes, preparing for his big monologue on how amazing his summer was. "My mother took me and my siblings to Paris, France."
"Almost all of our siblings," Chase said glancing at me. Once again, I roll my eyes. Their attitudes may be replicas of mine, but they will always pity me for the overjudgement from our parents, more like my father rather than both of them.
"Why didn't you go to Paris, Makayla?" Ann asks. The only one who generally knows what happens at home is Jordyn, so I'm not surprised by the question.
I shrug, "Got in trouble again."
"As always," Draco finishes for me, as if I was actually going to say that. He and Chase look at each other and lose themselves in laughter. I just look off into the trees, waiting for us to arrive to the castle so that I can be free of the presence of Draco.
Chase is as childish as Draco is, but she can be bearable sometimes. Sometimes. The only people in my family that I could ever truly care about are Chase, Nora, and mother. My other siblings could end up in a ditch somewhere and I wouldn't give a damn.
When we arrive to the castle, the air feels cold. This fall is gonna be a cold one, I don't have a doubt about that.
We walk into the Great Hall and sit at our tables. The awkwardness lingered around our area at the Slytherin table because, unfortunately, Draco and Chase both got Slytherin. They weren't as problematic as last year and the year before that with chase, though.
I already know that my siblings were told to make my time here at Hogwarts miserable for my third year, but I have already told myself that I need to ignore it and live my life outside of my family. And yes, I know it's surprising, but I have a life. Ironic, isn't it?
Jokes aside, we're back at Hogwarts for another chaotic year. If this year is anything like the last, I don't expect to have a vacant time slot, ever.
Not only did Harry and I kind of fight Voldemort, who was just on the back of Professor Quarrel's head, but father made me busy all year. I may sound like I'm being dramatic, but I'm serious. All I did last year was work, work, work. I didn't even get much time to hang out with anyone, if I was even given the chance to by my father. He has begun controlling every part of my life. It's quite avrigating.
"Halston Malfoy!" Professor McGonnagal shouts, holding the Sorting Hat in hand.
We all turn toward the old lady as Halston stepped up to her. I can tell that everyone around us except for Jordyn and the other Malfoys are confused. No one knows about our other siblings. They all only knew about Chase, Kirsten, Kai, Me, and Draco.
"Slytherin!" the hat shouts. Jordyn and I sit up and clap for her, along with the rest of Slytherin house, as she walks over to the table, sitting next to me.
"Good job, Halston," I say, giving and receiving a high five.
She smiles, "Thanks Makayla!"
Louis looks at us, obviously confused, "There's another one of you?"
I roll my eyes, "I'm sorry, did I just hear you complaining?"
"Yes, you did! How many others are there?"
"Just one, for now."
Louis groans in the most dramatic way possible and sets his head on the table. I try not to laugh as Halston is completely losing it. She doesn't exactly have a filter per say.
"Makayla, I don't like your sister."
"So? You don't like me either, I don't see you complaining about that."
Everyone around us starts chuckling as Louis and I just stare at each other. I'm trying my best not to chuckle myself, but Louis' stupid face just makes it even more difficult.
Then, a random Slytherin shouts in response to our staring contest, "When are you guys going to kiss already?"
Everyone else laughs even more, which distracts me and I just look away and over to Professor McGonnagal and the sorting ceremony. I think me looking away just caused everyone to laugh more, as if they were "right." They weren't, though. You would never catch me kissing Louis Lupin. That's just disgusting and disrespectful to my family.
Louis
She looks away. I guess I win this staring contest? I was too busy getting lost in her eyes to even hear what that kid said. Well–of course I heard it–I just wasn't entirely focused on what was happening.
I never knew that Makayla's eyes had a tint of green, but were mainly dark blue, until today. It's quite odd. I don't usually pay that much attention to detail. Maybe I'm getting possessed by the Malfoy family.
