"i don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you!"

Welcome to a new year of chaos at Hogwarts. To start off, the Malfoys walk in separately than each other. What I mean by that is that Makayla isn't with them. Instead, she walks in with the Riddles.
They walk in after the Malfoys, so Kai, Halston, and Draco are already seated near me when they enter The Great Hall. This means I get to see their reactions to Makayla walking in. The sight of her stops their entire conversation.
"I didn't think she'd come," Halston whispers.
Makayla and Jordyn are now walking toward us all.
"It's a good thing she did," Kai says. "I have to be honest, I was starting to think we'd never see her again."
Makayla and Jordyn sit down as this year's first years walk in. Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out what happened over the summer.
"Hey, guys!" Annie walls over, sitting next to me.
Jordyn smiles, "Hey, Ann."
Makayla stares at her fingers that lay across the table. As Jordyn and Annelise spark a conversation, I gently nudge my foot against—what I hope is—Makayla's. She snaps her eyes up to mine and I mouth, Are you okay?
She nods.
I notice that Draco taunts Harry when he shouts in a whisper, "Potter!" Harry turns around to face him, annoyed. Draco has a dumb smile on his face as he asks, "Is it true that you fainted? Like—you actually fainted?"
Ron says, "Piss off, Malfoy," as he pulls Harry back to face forward. Draco and his friends laugh, which makes Makayla roll her eyes.
"What did you guys do over the summer?" Annie asks Makayla and Jordyn, ignoring Draco's remarks.
"I didn't do much," Jordyn replies, "I annoyed my brothers if that counts."
"It wasn't just you," Mattheo, sitting a little down the bench on my side of the table, says, eavesdropping. His glare reaches Makayla while her middle finger reaches him.
"You went to each others' houses?" Annie asks, now confused. So am I.
"I suppose," Jordyn's gaze lands on Makayla, whose head is now on the table with her arms wrapped around it.
"She was at our house for a whole month. It started to feel like she lived there," Mattheo adds to be annoying.
"Seriously?" Draco drops in. "She went to your house?"
"It's better than where she was before," Jordyn argues, glaring at Mattheo.
"Oh, really?" Draco laughs.
That's when the bickering starts.
