"i'm in love with a fairytale, even though it hurts."
Louis
After class, I quickly follow Makayla out. I've been trying my best to not talk about the games, but it's started to become inevitable, now.
"Hey," I say as I catch up with her in the crowded halls.
She glances at me before looking forward again, sighing, "Hey, Louis."
"I have a question," I say, pausing as she looks at me with an expectant look. I swallow, clear my throat, and then say, "Do you know what the first task of the tournament is?"
She shakes her head, keeping her gaze forward as she says, "No, but Ron is getting it out of Hagrid."
Speaking of Ron, he is currently trudging toward us. His hands are in his pockets and his face is twisted.
"Did he tell you?" Makayla asks.
"He told me to tell you that he would like to see you," he says, rolling his eyes. It's clear that he's still upset about her and Harry "cheating." Him and Harry have been either bickering or not speaking all week.
Makayla sighs, turning to me, "I have to go, but I'll see you in the common room if I don't turn up late."
I smile softly as she walks away. Suddenly, Ron is staring at me. It makes me slightly uncomfortable.
"Wha—" Just as I go to ask why he is staring at me, he interrupts me.
"Are you dating Makayla Malfoy?" His expression is serious.
"Wha—ew! No! Never!"
Why'd I say never...?
"Do you want to date her?"
I take a moment to think about it. Do I? Yes, I really like her, but do I want to be with her? I don't kno—well—maybe. Fuck, I don't just want to date her, I want to marry her.
Surprisingly, I admit this, saying, "I don't just want that, I want to be the one she's walking down the aisle to. Not a best man or groomsman, though."
"So—you want to be the groom when she's the bride?"
I realize what I said and clear my throat, glancing around as I say, "I didn't say that."
"True, but you implied it."
"Okay—so what?" I shrug. "It's not like it'll happen. Grayson is trying to get everything I want."
"Wait—I thought Grayson was your best friend?"
"Not anymore. He's doing everything he can to get close to Makayla and make a move because he knows that I can't."
"Why can't you?"
"Because! She hates me!" I throw my head back in annoyance. "She'd throw me to the wolves if she was given the chance."
"I doubt that," Ron chuckles.
"Why is that?" I look at him, genuinely curious.
"Because, last year she was by your side nearly the entire time when you were turning into a werewolf," he points out. "Then, the year before that, she was somewhat nice to you! Then, when you both were in second year, you two worked together to close that door when those keys were trying to kill us. Then, this year, she helped clean up your wounds after you beat Cedric up!"
Oh, right. I forgot to mention that she did that.
"She was just being kind, Ron," I chuckle.
He shakes his head. "I don't think so. Remember when the girls woke us up that morning? You two were acting like you were in love with each other or something!"
Were we actually? Is it possible that I could have a chance with her? No. Absolutely not. That's stupid.
Unless...
