Makayla Malfoy doesn't cry, ever. I'm pretty sure she didn't even cry when she was born, according to mother. It doesn't matter what happens. No matter how cruel father is to her, she doesn't cry. So when I heard from people near Makayla and father when they argued that she started crying, I felt a pit in my stomach. What did he do? How bad could what he did be for her to cry?
"Did you hear that your sister cried?" one of the Slytherins next to me asks, laughing.
Yes, I did, and it's not funny.
"I would pay to see that up close."
I stand up abruptly, clenching my fists together, and walk to the Hufflepuff table. Once I reach Cedric, Katelyn, and Betty, I sit down.
"What happened?"
"What business is it to you?" Cedric asks with an annoying attitude.
"I'm her brother," I say sternly, "it's all my business."
He readjusts his posture and clears his throat, "What I meant is why do you care?"
"Because I'm her brother, I'm supposed to care."
"Says the person who laughed at his sister when she had to stay home for Christmas. Not to mention the fact that you and your siblings to everything in you all's power to humiliate her."
"We don't do... everything."
"Believe me, you do. So why would you care if your father harmed your sister's wrist when you haven't done anything to keep her from harm in the first place?"
Did he just–What the hell...
"Thanks, Diggory."
I get up and walk away from the table. Father hurt Makayla. I don't remember seeing that? I remember them bickering and then Makayla walking away in tears. If my father grabbed her arm, I would've seen it, so why didn't I? Is Cedric right? Do I truly not care at all for her? No, that can't be true. I'm her brother, I care for her as much as a brother should be. If I didn't care, I wouldn't be so angry right now. Am I even angry, though? Or am I just finally fed up with these people I call friends?
