Annelise
I know that it's Christmas break, but I need help with the essay Snape gave us as homework over break. So I skip down the halls to his classroom.
When I open the door, I am punched in the gut with a giant cold gust of wind. I glance around the room, "Professor Snape?" There's no answer. "Hello?" Still no answer. I see no point to keep trying to receive an answer. Then a couple seconds later, Snape walks in.
Finally, Merlin.
"Hi, Severus!"
He jumps, not expecting me to be in the room, "Hello, Annelise."
YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT. I'M ON A FIRST NAME BASIS WITH SEVERUS SNAPE.
"I was wondering if you could elaborate a bit more on what we're supposed to do for the homework?"
"It's an essay... on Chocolate Frogs."
"Yes, I know, but how am I supposed to write an essay about that?"
"Write an essay on how much you enjoy them, how much you despise them, I couldn't care less."
"I don't eat Chocolate Frogs, though, Sir!"
He stands there for a moment, shocked by my statement, "How do you not eat Chocolate Frogs?"
"They act alive! I can't eat something that's got a beating heart and is squirming in my hands!"
"So kill it!"
"WHAT–"
"Okay, I take that back–"
I take a deep breath, and reiterate my original request, "May you please help me with the essay since I have no knowledge of the stupid Chocolate Frogs?"
I can hear Snape's eyes roll as he says, "I suppose so, since you're the first child I've ever heard to not like a certain type of candy."
"Listen, if it didn't move, I would eat it. I mean, who doesn't like chocolate?"
"Exactly. But if you ever want a Chocolate Frog to stop moving so that you can eat it, you can always use Glacius."
"Glacie–what?"
"Glacius. It's a freezing charm that freezes its victim. If you use it on the Chocolate Frog, not only will it not be moving anymore, but it will also be cold. Chocolate is better cold."
"I suppose so! But, I can't work on the homework today, so I was wondering if I could work on it with you tomorrow, or sometime else if you're busy? My brother and I wanted to go to Hogsmead."
"Sure, Annelise."
"Thanks! Bye, Severus!"
"Before you go, I need to ask you something."
"What's up?" I turn back around.
"Don't call me Severus around students."
"That wasn't a question, that was a request."
"It's the same thing."
"No, it's not."
"Yes, it is."
"No, it's not."
"Yes, it is."
"Merlin, you two fight more than my brother and I," I hear Makayla groan as she walks in.
"What are you doing here, Ms. Malfoy?"
"I was bored and looking for someone to hang out with, Severus."
Snape rolls his eyes.
"Makayla, what about your sister, Nora?" I ask.
"I would be hanging out with her, but she got kidnapped by Pansy."
"Erm..."
"Don't worry, Pansy is a good influence, most of the time."
"Is this one of those times?"
She takes a long pause, "Hopefully!"
I laugh, "Well, I better get going to Hogsmead to meet up with Louis."
"Wait, can I go with you guys? I am in dire need of some food and the Great Hall is neglecting me."
Laughing once more, I say, "Sure. Come along!"
We walk out of Snape's office and go to Hogsmead. The walk is about ten minutes long, but feels as if it is ten seconds with the conversations we hold.
Then we reach Hogsmead and I see Louis leaning against Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. He's speaking to two boys: Theodore Nott... and Mattheo Riddle.
What is he speaking to him for? Mattheo is mean! At least according to Jordyn and Makayla!
But thank Merlin that Jordyn isn't here. Professor Lockhart isn't the only guy she's got her eyes on. Theodore Nott is also one of the many... many boys that she speaks about.
Makayla and I walk over and I catch Mattheo's scoff in the corner of my eye. Of course.
"Hey, Kay, what're you doing here?" Theodore asks.
"I came here with Annelise," Makayla replies. "The Great Hall is being weird and not making any food appear so now I gotta waste my money to get some."
The boys laugh and she rolls her eyes. I stand there awkwardly. This is not what I had in mind when I said I was going to hang out with Louis.
Makayla looks at Louis' winter hat and blatantly says, "Your hat looks dumb."
That's what I had in mind.
I laugh with Theodore and Mattheo, and Makayla stands there, trying to keep her laugh in. She fails, though. She ends up bursting out laughing not that long after her statement.
Louis rolls his eyes and takes the hat off, placing it on Makayla's head, "Ew, I don't want it!" She swats it off of her head.
Now all of us are laughing. This is nice. All of us are actually having fun together. It'd be nice if Jordyn were here, or Jamie.
Note from Makayla: Not this dude again...
Jamie is another one of Jordyn's brothers, but this brother is nicer. He is in Slytherin, but he's so nice!
All five of us walk into the ice cream parlor. I already know what flavor I'm getting: cookie dough! Theodore gets pistachio, Mattheo gets rocky road, Louis gets caramel, and Makayla gets vanilla mixed with caramel and cookies and cream.
We all sit at a booth. The cushioned seats are red and white, and the table is an artificially white marble color, lined with a jagged silver border on the edges. Makayla, Louis, and Mattheo got their ice creams in a cup–weirdos–meanwhile, Theodore and I got our ice creams on waffle cones. Y'know, because we're normal human beings?
In the booth, Mattheo, Theodore, and I are sitting on one side, with Louis and Makayla on the other side. I ship them so badly–I had to say it.
Then, the bell on the door rings. Someone walked into the parlor. They walk over to us and say, "Hey guys!"
Their voice is manly, but a little high. It sounds too familiar. Then I turn to them and see his face. Jamie!
Note from Makayla: Worst day of my life.
