"i don't know how it happened."

Harry

Cedric, Fleur, and Viktor are talking together in Dumbledore's office. Meanwhile, Makayla and I are by Dumbledore's desk. Makayla is panicking.

"Did you put our names in?" she whisper yells at me.

"No!" I respond, also whispering.

Suddenly, the teachers burst in, shouting at each other. Dumbledore is ahead of them all. He picks up the pace in his step and grabs me by the collar of my shirt.

"Harry," he says in a concerned tone, nearly shouting. Just as Makayla thinks she's safe, he grabs the collar of her shirt as well, gurgling out, "Did you put your names in the Goblet of Fire?"

We shake our heads frantically as I respond, "No!"

"Did you get one of the older kids to do it for you?"

"No," Makayla says.

"Are you 100 percent sure?"

We both nod as he releases us from his grip. As he does so, the Headmaster from Beauxbatons storms in, being taller than everyone in the room and knocking a chandelier away from her face.

"Well, obviously they are lying!" she shouts.

"What makes you think we'd want to risk our lives just for some glory?" I shout back.

"Her entire family fits that description," the headmaster from Durmstrang Institute, Viktor's school, snarls, nodding to Makayla.

I notice her expression falter from fear to sadness, then from sadness to anger. She remains silent, though, for some reason.

"I know these children like the back of my hand," Dumbledore says calmly. "Miss Malfoy is nothing like the rest of her family. All they share is a last name, nothing else."

Makayla fixes her gaze to the floor, adjusting her stance. I don't know what is wrong, but I can tell that she's upset. It could be the fact that she has to play the games with Cedric, or that she had to see her father at the World Cup. It's nearly impossible to read her. She's so good at hiding her emotions that I have gotten used to it. Everyone at Hogwarts calls her the perfect, happy Slytherin Princess. And I guess that's true.
