Jordyn
Makayla and I walk into Pansy, Makayla, and I's dorm and Makayla shuts the door behind her. Pansy is out, so it's just her and I.
Makayla locks the door then starts pacing the room. She's worried. I don't know what about, but I can tell that she is.
"What's going on?" I ask.
She stops right there. What does she say? Nothing. The dorm is completely silent; the only noise you hear is a bird's chirp from outside, Mackerel's mysterious meows, and the echoes of your own voice.
Something about Makayla feels off. I would ask her about it, but I don't want to deal with the awkward silence once more. She isn't ignoring me, she's only thinking. What about? I don't know.
She murmurs to herself, trying to make sense of whatever situation is happening this time. Whatever that is.
I hear her whisper to herself, "No... She was right there, though. I swear she was–"
"Makayla," I interrupt.
She looks up from the ground and her eyes land on me. Her blonde, wispy hair falling just at the ends of her eyes. It seems to be that she had been so busy panicking over whatever happened, that she forgot I was even here. She only brought me into the room five minutes ago. Is it that easy for her to forget? My brain is going in loopty loops right now.
Makayla looks down at the ground and then looks up, staring at nothing. Her eyes tell me that she has figured something out, or is at least in the process. That's when she grabs her infinity bag and rushes out the door.
I wonder where she goes, but I don't have the mental stability to follow her, so I walk downstairs. Everyone that was previously downstairs, sitting on the couches, have all gone to bed. All except for Kai, Louis, and Cedric. They're all so busy enjoying themselves that they didn't even seem to notice Makayla running out of the common room.
It's weird seeing Kai and Louis have a conversation full of laughter when Kai is a Malfoy. It's a pretty hypocritical move, if I'm honest. Louis' making a lot of friends this year, though. He's befriending almost the entire school. People are starting to say he's popular nowadays. I know that Makayla isn't happy about that.
Jules Lestrange likes to phrase it as two monkeys fighting over the ripest banana–the banana being their popularity–which isn't exactly wrong. They do fight over their social status a lot, which is unnecessary. Makayla wins either way, no matter what Kai or anyone else says. It's ironic that Jules uses a banana in this analogy, though. Makayla is allergic to bananas.
Note from Jules: I think it's obvious what I mean by the analogy.
