Khushi had realized she had been unable to give more time to her work, Gupta Foods, lately. Chiku's exams- although he was just in 3rd standard had taken quite a lot of her attention. Arnav had proved to be an unsuitable one to help in this matter- no not because he lacked the necessary educational qualifications (he had way more than needed), but because he didn't have the patience to repeat the same thing over and over until the child understood it properly.

So, Chiku himself had refused to sit with Arnav for any of his study revisions, insisting Khushi be the only one he'd study with.

Thankfully, their daughters were still little and maybe by the time it was their turn, Arnav would've learnt a bit of patience. Though, between Pari's homeschooling and Aru's 24-hour mischief mode, they already needed a fair bit of Khushi's attention.

Anyhow. The point was, due to all this, her work suffered over the past few months. Besides, in the business she was in, food, there was always tough competition. Newer, tastier, ready-to-make sorts of options were launching every other day, making it more important than ever for her to stay on top of how her employees were handling things.

Which is why she had planned to work extra hours today. But to make sure that Aru and Pari didn't end up troubling anyone at home (well, more like one of the two names mentioned there), she'd brought them along with her.

Luckily, her office was redesigned after chiku's birth to accommodate a small room adjacent to her cabin that was like a nursey cum toy-room for her children's occasional visits to her office. That way, she could keep an eye on them while getting work done. Not something every working woman could afford, she knew. But then again perks of being Mrs. ASR!

Right now, she was completely immersed in her work and had totally lost track of time.

"Mamma," Aru called out from the adjacent room, where she was busy playing on her phone. "Aru is hungry!" she declared, looking at her twin sister, who eagerly nodded too, clearly wanting to relay the same message. "And Pari too!"

Khushi, one of the rarest times ever, was so engrossed in her work, she didn't hear her daughter's voice.

"Mammaaa!" Arohi called out loudly, almost startling her, "MAMMAAA!"

Khushi instantly got up and hurried into the other room, heart racing. Had one of them hurt themselves?

Thankfully, both girls looked perfectly fine.

"Kya hua, Aru? Itni zor se kyun pukara? Mamma dar gayi na? (Why did you call me so loudly? You scared your mamma!)."

"Aru called so many times, hundred times-" the little princess said, clearly exaggerating, "why didn't you come? Aru and Pari are hungry!"

Khushi's heart sank a little at the guilt. She looked at her watch and realized she had missed their mid-afternoon snack time. She usually gave them fruits around this hour. Of course, it was always a struggle to get them to eat it, but she had her ways.

"Ok, wait, I'll be right back." she said, quickly stepping into her cabin and returning with a glass tiffin box filled with cut apples. Sitting down beside them, she opened the lid. "Hmm, here you go!"

Both girls immediately made faces.

"Nooo, something yummy!" Aru whined.

Khushi gave them a look. "This is yummy, beta. We like apple, right?" she asked, repeating one of their favorite cartoon's lines, "Chalo, kha lo jaldi, (Eat quickly)."
