Chapter Eighty-One: A King's Actions
Vhaela Targaryen
We soar through the sky just beneath the gentle coastline that encircles the Red Keep's shore. In my embrace, Viserys wiggles and fills the air with joyful shouts of amazement. A soft laugh escapes from me at his action as I secure my grip and we gradually descend onto the land.
With a heavy thud, Cannibal lands, placing us on the narrow strip of land, and lets out a huff of smoke through his nostrils. Viserys immediately turns to tilt his chin upward, forcing my gaze to lower and find a bright, beaming smile staring up at me.
The very moment I arrived at Runestone, my younger brother was filled with delight at the prospect of seeing Aegon again, after all this time. He practically sprinted towards Cannibal, refusing to even allow me to take a moment to speak with Ser Gerold.
The clicking sound of the releasing chain stirs my attention back to my youngest brother, who wiggles in his seat filled with unruly anticipation. A smile appears at his eagerness as I slowly begin to make my way down my dragon, helping Viserys descend at the same time.
We land, sinking into the softness of the sand, as Cannibal's head turns back in our direction. A cloud of smoke escapes from his nostrils as his bright green eyes intently stare at both of us. Momentarily distracted, my brother moves towards the ebony scales of Cannibal.
I watch as his fingers trail over them before he turns toward my dragon while saying, "Geros ilas." (Goodbye)
At the farewell, Cannibal leans his head in closer to Viserys before slightly opening his mouth. My face scrunches in confusion before a dense bundle of dark smoke emits out from his mouth. The dark smoke flows in Viserys' direction, sending him to let out a cough.
He then lets out a laugh before turning back to look at me. His face is littered with the remnants of the smoke that clings to his chubby cheeks. I instantly stride toward him, bringing my hands to wipe away the soft layer of ash.
My brother giggles before gently moving my hand away from his face. Suddenly, he's tugging me toward the castle grounds, and I follow behind him with a chuckle of my own. Behind us, I feel the sharp blow of Cannibal's wings as he takes off.
We soon approach the hidden entrance to Maegor's Holdfast and swiftly ascend the narrow staircase. Heavy breaths escape from my lips at the exertion of energy. As we climb the last steps, I force Viserys to halt as I regain my breath.
As my breathing returns to its normal pace, my spare hand rests on my stomach. Now that I am approaching four moons into my pregnancy, even the simplest activities leave me breathless. It was quite annoying, to say the least.
I then avert my gaze downwards meeting the dark purple eyes of my brother.
"Come on Vhaela!" He says before tugging my arm once more.
