"Good morning" Ava came up to him at the stove, kissing his bare shoulder.
"Morning Princess" he touched her arm.
"Sunny side, scrambled eggs or an omelet?"
"Sunny"
"On its way, there's coffee brewing or orange juice in the fridge"
"Aren't you spoiling me" she fell away from him, getting the juice from the fridge.

Ava cut up some apple slices, holding one out from him.
She wrapped his arms around him. "I missed living with you"
"Why's that?" He turned his lips to her head.
"I missed having breakfast made for me" she kissed his cheek.

"I got you lunch" Ava set the two trays down.
"Since you made me breakfast"
"Thanks Avery" he squeezed her thigh.

Ini approached and his hand fell from her thigh.
"Keep feeling her up, I don't mind" she set her tray down.
"Stop being such a grump" Ava said, "what has you so down"
"Nothing" she shook her head, "sorry"

"Ay, if it isn't the birthday boy" Connor smiled as Owen sat with them.
"I didn't know it was your birthday" Ava turned to him.
"It's this weekend, My folks are coming down from Maine today" he smiled.
"That's nice"
"Yeah they get in later this afternoon"

They finished their lunch, Owen, Connor and Ava making their way down to the ED. While Ini slipped back up to neuro. Ava worked on an ED rotation, often finding her way back to Connor. She and Connor had another coffee while talking with Owen at the nurses station about on of the Ed cases.
Owen looked over Ava's shoulder, his face falling in Shock.
"Mum!" Owen threw his arms around her.
"Rachel"
"Ava, Connor this is my mum Emily and my sister Rachel"
"It's lovely to meet you" Ava shook the hands.

"Look at you, you look so grow up!"
"And your hair! It's braided, I've never seen your hair braided before"
"You leave Maine for what, seven months and you're like a whole new man" Rachel teased.
"Have you made it to the hotel yet?"
"No we came straight here, I wanted to see my son"
"Get settled, I only have a few hours left on my shift. My hours aren't as long as they used to be". Owen showed his sister and mother out before returning to the nurses station.

"Are you adopted?" Ava said in shock.
"Yeah" he stared at them blankly.
"I told you?"
"You definitely did not" Connor said.
"Oh, well I am"
"Emily and Phill adopted me when I was five months"
"I was premature, that's part of what got me into sports and the gyms. I wanted to bulk up a bit"
"We'll have to go to the gym sometime together" Connor said, his pager buzzing.
"I have to talk this, I'll see you later" he touched Ava's arm.
Ava turned to move, "Hey Ava can I talk to you?" Owen stopped her.
"Of course yeah"

Owen fidgeted with his cufflinks before going into the restaurant. He hadn't seen his family since Christmas which really wasn't that long. But it was an eternity for his parents.

"Dad!" He threw his arms around him.
"My boy! You've gotten so tall. I'm sorry I couldn't come into the office with you"
"Don't worry about it"
"It's so good to see you"

"You weren't joking when you said it was cold" Rachel said.
"Stop complaining"
"I'm not!" She rolled her eyes.
"Surely Maine is colder?"
"But there's no snow here, what's the point of cold without snow?"
"You sound like one of my colleagues" Owen smiled, taking a sip of his drink.

Emily excused herself to the bathroom and John went to get a drink at the bar.
"How's college?" Owen asked.
"Good, lots of late night and intern work, but I'm nearly done"
"You still love it?"
"Even more every day"

"I got you a gift" he produced a bag from under the table.
"Is it a Birkin?" She teased.
"One day" he promised.
He handed her a small Hermes box."I got this in the mean time"
"Ava helped me pick it out"
Rachel opened the box, a flagship scarf 90 in the box.
"For all the journeys ahead of you"
"Thank you" she wrapped her arms around him.
