Connor flew back to Minnesota, with the time he had taken off work to find Ava, he still had a few days to make one more stop.
Maybe all she did need was time. So he hoped.

Connor got out of his taxi and walked up the front steps of the one story house. The door opened, "hey"
"Hi" he hugged Robyn.
She stepped out of the way.
"Daddy!" Sarah May ran up to him.
"Hey" he crouched down to her height.
"How have you been"
"Good" she beamed.

Connor put his bag down and laid on the sofa, with Sarah May on his stomach.
"Did you miss me?"
"Yes!"
"What do you want to do tomorrow? Mhm?"
"We have the whole day together"
"Park and I want to go on the big swing"
"Whatever you want" he touched the back of her head.

Robyn had made the three of them dinner, with Connor offering to do the dishes afterwards.
"Hey you okey? You look pretty tried" she leaned back against the sink.
Her hand was on his arm.
"Yeah, I just haven't been sleeping well" he put the towel down.
She frowned, touching his back before walking away.
Connor put his things away getting the sofa ready to sleep on. He pulled the covers over himself and thought of Ava.

He was awoken early in the morning to something climbing on top of him.
"Hey Sarah May" he opened his eyes, pulling her off his leg, onto his chest.
"Good morning"
"Sarah May get down" Robyn scolded from the kitchen.
"Sorry, I told her not to wake you"
"It's fine"
"Park?" Connor sat up.
"Park"

Connor showered and changed in Robyn's room while she made breakfast. He checked his phone for any new messages, as well as his emails and voicemails.
There was nothing, but he didn't expect there to be. She needed time.
He joined them back in the kitchen for breakfast before they left for the park.

He buckled her into her car seat in the back, before they drove to the park.
Connor pick Sarah May up, throwing her up onto his shoulders as they walked to the playground. He pushed her in the swings and watched her climb through the structures. Sarah May jumping down into his arms he carried her back to the car.
He played with her in the back garden, a small sand pit and playhouse set up while Robyn made dinner. He walked her back into the house, getting Sarah May cleaned up before dinner.

They had dinner as a family and Connor took their plates away, Sarah May running to go play once more before bed.
Robyn came to his side at the counter.
"You can stay in my bed tonight? Might help with your sleep" She touched his arm.
"That's not necessary"
"It's fine, really"
"Robyn" he said sternly.
She sighed, "I should get Sarah May ready for bed" she stalked off.

Connor exhaled deeply, getting the sofa ready for him to sleep on. He lay in the dark, a blanket over him. His hand reached for his phone.
He looked at the pictures of him and Ava in California, not too long ago. Her arms wrapped around him, her head on his chest.

"Hey" Connor ran a hand through his hair nervously. "Sorry, I thought you'd Irish goodbye'd me" he chuckled bitterly.
"Irish goodbye?" Ava questioned. Not always knowing his idioms.
"Left without saying goodbye"
Ava dropped her brows, "I'd never do that Connor" she took his hand. Wrapping an arm around him she pulled him into a hug.

He opened the porch door, stepping out into the dark he leaned on the railing. He missed her.
"Hey" a soft voice from behind him came.
Connor jumped, "Robyn, sorry did I wake you?"
"No, I wasn't really sleeping. I have a sensor on the back door anyway. Living alone. And all that"
"Right sorry. I just needed some air"
"Theres a lighter blanket in my room" she offered, touching his arm.
Connor looked over to her, before following her to her room, past Sarah May's. The windows were open in her room, the curtains blowing with a light breeze.
Robyn led them in, pushing the door closed behind them.
