Connor and Ava were back a JFK once again, packing their things into a yellow cab. They had a few days to themselves in New York before the needed to leave for the Catskills. They were taking Brooklyns car and driving with bobs brother who had flown in from out of state for the wedding.

Ava had planned to find a new dress for the wedding while here, having some alone time in the city as a couple. "What about this?"
The ac was on in the boutique, pushing cold air through the room.
"What about this one?" Ava stepped out from behind the curtain and into the pedestal.
"I'm not sure about the black" she span around.
It was a one strap form fitted dress that showed her curves nicely. The strap lying just under her shoulder.
"I think you should get it, if not for the wedding then something else?" He racked his eyes over her. She walked back to the changing room. Pulling the curtain.
"I really don't need another dress"
"We go to a lot of galas" he said.
"That's true" she stepped out in a light green dress with floral embroidery on straps and bodice.
She touched her waist, "I think this is a bit informal"
Connor nodded in agreement and she stepped back to change.

Her third and final look was a loose creamy yellow, V-neck dress with a blue floral dress print. She held her hair up in her hand, showing the back with a similar v neck cut.
"It's beautiful" he sat up. Ava lifted up the end of her skirt and stepped off the pedestal. "Third times the charm" she came into his arms.
Connor kissed her, "have them pack up the two dresses, the black one"
"I really don't", he kissed her silent. "Okey maybe I will" she smiled unzipping the dress as she watched back to the changing room.

Connor and Ava left with two boutique bags and had them sent back to the hotel.
"So you want to look at any other stores?"
"Maybe get some new jewellery?"
"No" she wrapped an arm around his, leaning into his shoulder.
"I just want to walk with you" She cuddled into his side.
They did wind up going into a few stores, Ava tried on a few pieces and bought some gold flora earrings. Ava carried the small bag in one hand, Connor's in the other. They walked down Maddison Avenue and passed Hermes, a familiar face passing them as they left.

Ava stopped short of herself, "Claire!" She turned back around.
She stopped and smiled, walking back up to them.
"What are you doing here"
"Just some work stuff" she smiled, taking her sunglasses off.
"Anything I should know about?" Connor said.
"No, if anything your shares should go up"
"And you two? Just a Summer get away?"
"No my friends getting married. We were just staying here for a few days before driving to the Catskills" Ava said.
"That sounds nice, I'm just taking some time in the city. After my meetings"
"You should come, if your not busy of course"
"No, I couldn't" she shook her head.
"No truly, it won't be a problem" she assured her.
Ava's phone buzzed in her purse, "see, it's Brooklyn. It's a sign"

She stepped away to take the call.
"Hi! How's New York?"
"Good, I've gotten a dress for the wedding"
"Oh I can't wait"
"Your still okey to drive up with Bob's brother tomorrow?"
"Yeah, speaking of siblings, we've just ran into Connor's sister. Do you think there'd be room for her at the wedding?"
"Oh of course! I forgot some people have such small families, I'm afraid if we add anymore Italians to this list it'll be half the nation. We could do with some American balance"
"Tell her to bring a boyfriend or girlfriend is she has, tell her to bring anyone with a blue passport!"

Ava walked back over to the pair, takings Connor's elbow.
"She's more then happy to have you, some American balance"
"We leave tomorrow morning"
Claire took a deep breath and looked to her brother. "Why not, some spontaneity"

Connor and Ava caught lunch with Claire before she had to leave for another meeting. They walked back to their hotel in the afternoon sun. Ava took off her heels and changed into some sippers, putting her bag down.
She made her way over to the window seat looking over the city, curling into the glass.
"I missed this place, I was so glad I got the chance to come back, I liked it so much my first visit" she said thoughtfully.
"When did you visit New York?" He asked.
"I was in here in my twenties" she turned from the windows, "one of these international conferences for med schools"
"Oh yeah, I went to one of those"
"Yeah they were great, mine had a Halloween after party to welcome everyone"
"So did mine" Connor said slowly, "I went as a cowboy"
"I was Marylyn Monroe" her voice trailed off and her face fell.
