Unconsort

Draco Malfoy and I are not friends. That's what I've had to tell people all week. We are nearly being civil for the sake of our studies, and once our studies are over, so would our acquaintance. Everything would go back to normal... although it would be nice if he wouldn't revert to tormenting me any longer. But even so, the idea of us being friends in the future is unfathomable.

"Happy Halloween!" I said cheerfully. It was my second favorite holiday tomorrow. Looking towards the blond-haired Ferret I noticed the not-so-happy look on his face. "What's got your wand in a knot?" I questioned.

Draco glared at me. "You were supposed to get my grades in Muggle Studies up." He deadpanned. Confused, I grabbed the paper Draco held out for me. Right there in red ink was a D. I began to read Draco's report wondering what could possibly deserve the low grade.

Muggles have many useless things regarding their technology. They also have many things they require technology for, Although Wizards could do most of these things with a wave a wand. One has to appreciate their diligence with their many handicaps. My favorite part of their lesser muggle techno-

And so on...

"Well, no wonder you got a D! You managed to belittle Muggle culture within almost every sentence! And the parts you didn't belittle us you butchered it!" I scolded, holding the bridge of my nose in annoyance. "Would it be possible for you to take a repeat?" I crossed my arms.

"Will you do it for me?" he questioned 'innocently'. With the paper in hand, I slapped the back of his head. "Ow hey!"

Rolling my eyes I said "Of course not you nincompoop! If I know anything about you, your highness, it's that you are perfectly capable of writing a good report!"

"Your Highness?" He questioned. I hadn't realized what I had said till now, but I quickly brushed it off.

"Slytherin Prince? Your Highness?" I stated obviously.

"You're an oddball." He rolled his eyes. I smiled, that feeling overcoming me.

"Now c'mon let's work on rewriting this paper!"

..............

After an eternity of writing, and a snack or two we finally finished at 8 pm. And I headed off to my dorm.

On my way back to the dorm I saw Sophie walking to the dorm with an oddly familiar-looking Ravenclaw. Without realizing it, out came word vomit.

"-Sophie!" My eyes widened as she turned to look at me. She was startled, but soon whispered towards the Ravenclaw and he left.

"Um Lindsey!" She greeted, walking by my side.

"Who was that?" I asked, making conversation.

"Oh, uh, that's my boyfriend, his name is Oliver." She replied.

"Oh." I nodded my head, the silence was eating us up.

We soon turned to each other and at the same time we both blurted out. "Sorry-" we looked at each other in surprise and then rushed to hug each other.

"I won't take back what I believe but things can't keep being this way!" I looked towards her, happy to have my best friend back.

"Same! Oh, you have no idea how boring it's been without you, it's like I go to tell you something and you're not there! It's been terrible!" She whined as we again hugged.

"So tell me about Oliver!" I asked excitedly.

"Oh he's wonderful, very quiet non-confrontational, but very forward." She sighed. "But tell me are you and Draco friends?" She asked.

"Of course not, Frienemies at most." I laughed.

Even though all seemed well in the moment, the subject of you know who was still a touchy matter, and neither of us brought it up. Which couldn't be healthy.
