I ran inside the castle holding Draco's hand in mine. The fight wasn't over, it seemed now as if it would never be over. I pulled Draco deeper and deeper into the castle, to somewhere I was sure we would be safe, I felt and heard spells fly past me, as is hot back at them. "Protego!" I shouted as someone shot the Cruciotis curse at us.
"Merlin's-" I ignored his cussing, only paying attention to my surroundings. But as I was distracted by the spells being cast from my right, I was grabbed at my left.
"crap!" I spat as I felt a wand being pressed to my throat, in shock I dropped my wand.
"you really choose to go with some filthy mudblood son?" I sickly familiar voice said.
"mudblood? Is that the only insult in your people's vocabulary?" I asked sarcastically, he pressed the wand deeper into my neck.
Draco saw my wand and scurried to pick it up. "Let her go, father!" He demanded painting the wand above me.
I saw his hand shake as he did this. "Why you-"
"Draco..." a soft voice said, I turned my head slightly and saw Draco's mum, up close for the first time. She put her hand up to her son. "Come with us, we can leave here." She looked at me glaring. "Go somewhere safe..."
Draco looked over towards me again, his hand faltering. He took a deep breath "I won't mother..." he winced "not without her."
"Draco-" his mother tried reasons again.
"let her go, father!" I saw Draco's mum look at his father. And soon I was left free to rush to Draco's side. I latched onto his arm as I saw him give a thankful look to his mum. "Let's go..." he said as we rushed away hesitantly.
we ran through the halls passing corners and turns. However, I soon realized there was someone on our tail. "Stupefy!" I yelled pointing my wand backward. I missed.
"expeliarmus!" I heard a voice laugh. My wand went flying, leaving us defenseless. We kept running but eventually, we hit a dead end. We shrunk against a wall as the man following us laughed, pointing his wand at us. I closed my eyes in fear, unlike Draco's dad, this man had murder on his mind...
I hugged Draco, he hugged me back. As I waited for the man to kill us, I whispered to Draco. "I love you..."
the end never came. I waited before I finally opened my eyes. The man lay on the floor, stiff as a board. I looked to my right, shaking Draco.
We were safe, a young woman with brown hair stood there, an Auror.
.....
"look at this place..." I said to Draco as we walked through the rubble that used to be Hogsmead. "It's trashed..."
"it looks like the rest of Hogwarts..." he said guiltily.
"it's never too late to rebuild it..." I said squeezing his hand. "That reminds me..." I pulled him to an old bench that still stood. Then I pulled a cassette player out of my pocket. "Remember?" I asked.
he nodded his head, pulling the tape out from his pant pocket. "I brought it everywhere..." I blushed.
"Turn it on..." I said handing the player to him. With no headphones, the music echoed threw the empty village. 'It's been a long, long time
we didn't talk till after the song was over. "I also saved uhm some old letters I wrote you while we were away..." I said fidgeting with my shirt collar. He smiled at me.
"I love you too..." he whispered.
I looked at him in surprise. My heart leaped out of my chest. And then I realized It was finally over, the war, having to hide, all the fear... we could be together, we could be somewhat normal... I could love him. And I did...
I tipped my head up, reaching out to kiss him, our second kiss... I smiled into it, I could feel the warmth of his lips. My heart beat sped up as I felt blood rush to my cheeks and ears. He lightly put his hand on the side of my face. And I wrapped my arms around him. this kiss was what a kiss should be. Full of passion, hope, and love.
finally...
