"Ms. Boris" professor Snape glared "this is Ms. Greengrass, your new tutor, make sure you don't get into a fight with this one." He demanded.

"yes, professor." I nodded. I looked at the familiar-looking tall girl. I had seen her before, but I couldn't identify where. The girl had long dark umber hair, hazel green eyes, and fair pale skin. She stood with her shoulder back and altogether had a very prim and proper aura to her. I reached my hand out to shake hers, I felt small compared to her even though she was only around 170 cm (5,7 ft) tall.

she looked almost guilty when she shook my hand, "Hello Ms. Boris"

"please call me Lindsey" I smiled softly.

"then I'm Astoria." She smiled back, but there was a wrinkle in her browns, that gave her expression a feeling of culpability.

we walked towards the library in silence "you don't remember do you?" Astoria asked calmly, "I was one of the girls in the library the other week." She said looking at her hands.

"oh." Is all I said.

"I wanted to apologize for that behavior, you see I'm... not like my family when it comes to our ideology. I disagree immensely with the prejudice that so many purebloods have, and for that, I'm shunned by them. I thought that if I got in with the other Slytherin I'd be excepted, I guess" Astoria explained sorrowfully.

"... I can't even imagine being shunned, that's terrible, what kind of family would do that?" I asked honestly confused.

"it's more popular than most think." She told me "children are held to high standards, we mustn't speak to muggle-borns, nor must we speak with blood traitors, and in most families marriages are arranged between to high-class pureblood families." She frowned "up until last summer my family was preparing to have me married to another pureblood..."

Out of surprise, I started choking on my spit. "Marriage!? Why your hardly 15!" I exclaimed.

"I'm 14 actually" she corrected. "these rules are normal for most pureblood families, they aren't taught any different their entire lives" she shrugged.

"I'm sorry that's just entirely bonkers!" I exclaimed. "I feel bad for the girl engaged to Malfoy!" I laughed, jokingly.

"that would either be me or my sister, although with how my family sees me right now, it's my sister." she sighed.

"oh-" I said surprised. "well that's... swell" I smiled bitterly? no that's not the word, uncomfortably? that's not it either!

"anyway the point is I'm sorry, there's no way around it." She stood firm.

"Oh. um I mean, sure why not" I shrugged. "You're forgiven I mean" I laughed.

she nodded her head at me.

"wanna join me for lunch after this? If you're not sitting with those jerks" I smiled.
