"Lindsey! I've been meaning to talk to you!" Sophie called as I was rushing out of our dorm. "Today at Hogsmeade there's a-"

"Sorry Soph!" I said, rapping a scarf around my neck. "Gotta run, I'll be late for tutoring!" I waved goodbye before rushing towards the library. The air was chilly, as it was October 5th. In some places around Hogwarts there was already snowfall. "Sorry I'm late!" I plopped down across Malfoy. As much as I disliked Malfoy, he made potions so very interesting. I was still behind I'm sure, but my grade has gone up, if only a little bit.

Malfoy looked at me, rolling his eyes as usual. "Let's get this over with."

I scoffed. "You know, I look forward to our time during potions." I said, folding my arms. Malfoy raised his eyebrows. "I'm serious, we may not have the best history but your a good teacher"

Malfoy looked away bashfully. "Like I care what you say mudblood- let's just start!" I frowned, putting my earplugs in, which were connected to my cassette player. "What is that thing?" He asked curiously.

"It's called a cassette player, it plays music." He looked at it cautiously. "Here." I put a earplug in his ear, my cassette playing Penny Lane by the Beatles. He reacted weird at first, not liking that I put a muggle thing near him, but soon he started really listening to the song.

When the song ended he looked at me. "That song fits in that tiny box without magic? Mud- muggles really have this kind of technology?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Contrary to popular pureblood belief, muggles have progressed there technology more than magic folk have in many ways." I said, putting my earbud back in. "A cassette tape uses magnetic frequencies to produce sound waves to put it simply."

Malfoy made a look before raising his eyes toward me. "If I continue to help you with your potions, will you help me with my muggle studies?"

I gave him a pointed look before quietly laughing. "You, Draco Malfoy, prince of the Slytherin and purebloods alike, take muggle studies?"

"Oh shut up. My mum made me take it." He said. I didn't press the matter further.

"Okay, I'll help. It's only fair." I sighed.

Later:

"There you are!!" Sophie said, pulling me to sit with her. "I've been meaning to talk to you."

"Woah! Ok! Ok!" I exclaimed while tripping over my own feet.

"I attended a meeting today." Sophie gave me a pointed look.

"And...?" I pressed on.

She looked around in suspicion. "It was about a certain army." She coughed. "There calling it Dumbledore's Army, it's like a DADA class so we can learn to fight, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, I think you should joi-"

"No way." I crossed my arms. Sophie looked startled. "First of all I'm not deliberately gonna get myself in trouble, second we don't even know if He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is back, for all we know Potter wanted more attention-" Sophie tried interrupting me, but I pressed on. "And third, I'm already busy as it is, I don't need another thing weighing down on me!"

"Cedric Diggory's death was not Harry wanting attention-" Sophie said dumbfounded. "Voldemort killed him." she said, covering her mouth right after. I widened my eyes, fear inside me. I'd only ever heard Potter say his name, it was pure taboo. Quietness surrounded us.

"I'm gonna be spending more time at tutoring..." I told her.

"I'll be at DA meetings..." She avoided my eyes. I avoided hers. I stood up abruptly, excusing myself.

In my own head, I was walking the halls. I was distraught, how could she say his name?! What's happening?! I bumped into someone, they murmured an apology. I looked up, seeing Amy and suddenly there was a loud smacking sound. I didn't know what had happened until I felt a tingling sensation in my hand, and Amy's red cheek had tears running down it. Startled by what I had done, I went to apologize. "Amy I'm so sor-" Suddenly there was a wand to my throat.

"How dare you smack her you mudblood!" Blaise held his wand at my throat.
