"I'm going," I said as bill slightly argued with me.

"it's dangerous -" he said "- you're a child, you shouldn't have to face something like this."

"I'm seventeen, and I'm a healer in training, I need to be there to help Madam Pomfrey- besides, if you won't let me go with you ill just appearate after you leave- I don't have the trace." I stood.

bill sighed and whispered something under his breath. "I can stop you, but I'm honestly pleading that you and luna stay here safe." he furrowed his brows.

"I'm going too." luna added. I looked at her nodding my head.

"you too should make sure you're ready then.. and make sure you can defend yourself..." I took my wand out of my pocket and clutched it tightly in my hand.

....

I knew that after I arrived at Hogwarts I needed to talk to Sophie, so as quickly as I could I rushed to find her. "thank you for letting me stay with you!" I shouted to fleur and bill as I ran off. I pushed threw crowds of people to the Hufflepuff common room where I was sure she would be.

As I made it past the stack of large barrels that hid my cozy little common room I was hit with a wave of nostalgia that made me tear up. I recalled many things that I had once forgotten about. I somehow never realized how truly fortunate I was to get to live in the Hufflepuff dorm. The round room that had always made one feel welcomed. The circular windows allowed me to see the beautiful flowers that bloomed in spring. The warmth that came from the fireplace. The picture of Helga Hufflepuff who always looked after the students. And the wonderful plants that somehow managed to thrive with most of the Hufflepuff gone.

As I smelled a daisy that was hanging in a ceasing planter I heard a clatter behind me. I turned around surprised to see a blue watering can on the floor- water surrounding it - and standing above it was none other than Amy Clearwood.

"Lindsey..." she breathed, more than surprised. After she started dating Blaise, soph and I made it a habit to avoid Amy. "I hadn't realized you were coming back..." she said cautiously.

"me neither..." I furrowed my brows. It was awkwardly silent before I spoke again. "Are you watering the plants?"

she nodded "most of the Hufflepuff have left as you can see..." she said quietly. "I didn't want them to die..." I nodded my head as she came and stood next to me, yet opposing me. "My parents are coming..." she told me. "They're with 'him'..."

I felt a chill run down my spine as I faced the window with her, looking at the darkening sky. "Oh..."

she didn't say anything for a moment, all that was heard was our silent breath. Then she turned to me "this war is bigger than any of us." She said oddly mature for the Amy I knew. "Hogwarts has changed, I know we aren't friends, nor do we like each other, but one thing we have in common is that we love our home. We love Hogwarts." She said to me.

I nodded in agreement looking at the blonde.

"I'm sorry..." she whispered.

"am I the one you should be apologizing to?" I asked bitterly.

she looked at her feet, shaking her head her gaze slowly raised to meet my eyes. "ill do it, ill apologize to her. I promise."

I turned to leave. "we'll see..."

I continued to run threw the halls looking for my best friend. then I bumped into a boy- Neville. "sorry" I apologized "oh! erm, have you seen i girl named Sophie Robbingsworth?" I asked franticly.

Neville blushed slightly nodding his head. "I think I saw her in the courtyard," he said.

"oh thank you, Neville!" I smiled running towards the yard. "Sophie!" I shouted when I saw her. she looked so different... her hair was chopped short, something I had never seen on her before.

"Lindsey!?" she asked with wide eye "what are you doing here?!" she shrieked wrapping me in a tight hug.

"merlin I missed you." I smiled at her. "I'm here for the battle- oh Sophie so much has happened- there were dementors- and snatchers- and- and Draco! i- we kissed." I exploded with information.

"What?!! Lindsey!" she laughed happy for me.

"look at your hair!" I said, taking a step back to look at her.

"look at yours! she laughed. "those bangs!" we both laughed giddily. I was overjoyed to have my best friend back. but my rejoicing was cut short by the sounds of explosions...
